In todays world how rational is it to practice a religion?

I think religion gets the blame for so many of todays wrongs with the world.Truth be known it isn't religion but people and their lack of tolerance.I am somewhat religious and have my beliefs but I never force them on anyone else and respect others their view.

Is religion helping or hindering us? It all comes down to personal interpretation and how you choose to use the knowledge that religion can provide. The issue with religion is that it is way too open to interpretation and that rather than use religion as a guide in life or as a means for inspiration and spiritual growth, SOME people use it to espouse hatred and incite violence against others. In my opinion, there is no one true religion, no one true God and no one true right path to enlightenment. It is all about faith, self development and growth. Faith does not necessarily have to include comprehension! Some things in life will always be unexplainable. If human beings as a whole were more tolerant of each other's choices we would not have as many of the historical and present issues we face.
