I have a cable broadband connection. I had dial up for 8 years untill this year i finally switched to cable.
I just couldn't stand it any more. Yes, cable is soo much faster than dial-up. Then again, broadband is much more expensive than dial-up. think about it. You know what's g-ay though. We were paying twenty five bucks a month for slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow slow x 9999999999999999999 slow. Now i have cable and it's only 30 dollars a month. Instead of downloading a song for 4 days, it takes 2 minutes.

Yo! I just gave your message a plus. I can totally relate to you. I am still using dial up, and I agree it is pretty slow. It gets really annoying, but I only pay 6 USD a month for unlimited access. We used to have AOL, they suck and there are better services that are way cheaper. I don't have a job and therefore I can't afford to pay for 30 USD a month for faster internet (such as cable). I would love to have it because I download so many files and programs.

depend on how much do you pay. My broadband is 256k and dowload rate is 36kb/s and when I had dial up connection 56k my download rate was 5kb/s (when it was faster).
In Japan has Internet broadband very fast until 500MB for internet house and in brazil has only 5MB, its the better internet that we have here in brazil, 5MB.

Dial up goes through the phone line, broadband goes through the phone line as well, but it has a special modem that make download speeds faster, cable and satellite have faster speeds. For more information about all those you can go to http://www.howthingswork.com and read their articles. I love that website and it is one of my favorites!

Dialup connection gives you a band width of 56 kbps.(Pay attention on kb this is in lower case)It is an analog signal. So it's capacity of data transfer is very slow.As far as broad band is concerned it is very fast due to two reasons.
1. You get 256 kbps or 32KBps. Multiply 32 which is a byte to convert it to kbps you will have to multiply it with 8 so 32*8=256. On broad band.
2. The transmission is of digital signal on broad band.
I am getting a speed of 1MBps that is 2048kbps.
I think now you under stand every thing which you wanted to know.

Dial up essentially uses your phone line to trasnfer data as opposed to broad band which do use other form of cables like firebre optics to transfer the data, allwoing more data to be sent at a time. Another difference is that broaband is an internet that is always on, on which you dont have to dial up to likedial up.
