Finding Heat the Less Obvious Ways

In the interest of global warming and rising fuel costs, what are some of the less obvious ways that people are heating their homes with other than the standard electric, oil and gas. Personally, my household is heated with a wood pellet stove.

I wish I could use solar panals and a windmill to produce the energy for my house but I can't afford the thousands of pounds that it would cost to get them fitted. I electric and have gas central heating but I am trying to cut down my use of them both when I can.
