Do you only eat when you are hungry?

For myself, I try to eat more or less at the same time each day for all 3 meals unless it is virtually impossible to do so. The reason being that I am afraid of getting Gastric ulcers which may be caused by irregular eating habits. However, my aunty who only eats when she is hungry and I tell you, she is really irregular - but she's never had any Gastric problems at all and she is as healthy as a horse at age 84 yrs old. What about you?

Hmm.. well I am not good at doing the 3 meal thing. I do usually just eat when I'm hungry, even at dinner I'll just pick if I'm not really hungry. But then if I get stressed or upset or even bored, it's straight to the fridge for some comfort food. I know that's a bad way to eat!

I also try to eat my 3 meals at the same time each day because I have also heard that you can get gastric ulcers if you have irregular eating habits. I only eat my 3 meals I don't eat in between.

wow, I wish my grandmother is like her. I usually eat 3 times a day, sometimes I had some in between meals. What are your aunt diet?.I think its not the time of eating does matter but what food that comes out your mouth is important. Hope you could impart some knowledge on what diet does she eat everyday.

She usually eats small meals - for e.g. 2 pieces of toast with butter and jam, or a bowl of rice with just some simple side dish to go with it, or a bowl of soup with some bread, or even ice cream and bread, or cereal etc... she also snacks on nuts, chocolates, ice cream, juices and fruits. I think it could be that when she eats, she doesn't overdo it, usually her portions are small and she is usually very active even in the house. So, it must be a combination of all these factors plus the fact that she is very easy going and not the kind who stresses herself out.

ofcourse i do, and everyone should only if we feel hungry , and we should know our limit.......otherwise we will put on weight...

well, i don't really put on weight even if i eat too much. but still, i am trying to minimize this habit of eating almost every hour since i am scared that it might back fire on me in later years.

If I ate whenever I was hungry I would be eating nearly all the time! I try to stick to set meal times and then just have fruit in between. It doesn't always work out that way, but that is my intention.

Lol, sometimes I feel like that too but I try to control myself and maybe just drink some water especially at night. But it's good that you have the desire to curb your eating apart from meal times. Good luck.

me too i have a gastric ulcer!i dont know when it start it all i know i eat a lot of foods, i love eating!i eat 3 times a day and after that i eat any kind of foods but still im so skinny, i eat more because i want become have a chubby body!=)

Wow, you are one of the rare people who actually want to get fat!! Maybe when you really are chubby you may change your tune, lol. But whatever it is, let's all strive to be healthy. Best wishes to you.

I eat three meals a day. However..I know there are people who don't eat...at all..like your aunt. My boyfriend doesn't eat regular meals either and only eats when he gets hungry which could be only one meal at night...I could not do that...go all day without eating...I think that is crazy...

I eat breakfast because when I wake up Im hungry then I have dinner and again Im hungry. Sometimes I will snack at night time if Im hungry. I have no problems with gastric problems.

I assume you have no problem with your weight? Because I have proven to myself that if I snack at night too often, the weight just piles on!

Yes sometimes I only eat when I am hungry because I don't want to get so fat..I am a model and I don't want any bulges on my tummy or sides. But I do still eat and I don't want to get any ulcer if I don't eat.

I wish I only ate when I was hungry!!! I like to snack here and there during the day - I do try to get my fruit in and yougert and other healthy foods in for my snacks, but chocolate or chips sometimes are calling me sometimes! lol I think your gastric problems may be genetic or from other problems -- have you had yourself checked out? Maybe you need something like prilosec or nexxium to help you out?

Yes, I think I can attribute one important factor to my gastric problems - emotional upheavals. I tend to get stressed up and emotional easily so that I think affects my gastric juices and causes my gastric pains.

i like to eat when i am hungry..that way i really enjoy my food and realise it's value..it makes me think about how lucky i am to have a bowl of soup and try not to waste anything..i feel much healthier for it too..gives the stomach time in between digesting..

i think many women (maybe even most women?) eat their emotions. when things are balanced in my life, i eat regularly and healthily. when i am EXTREMELY upset, i don't eat at all. when i am a little upset, stressed, etc., i eat way, way too much. also, for me it's easy to get extremely busy and distracted from eating, and then suddenly, i am starving and in a don't-talk-to-me-i-bite kinda mood. but i like the idea of respecting what goes into your body, the material and efforts involved. when my sense of well-being is high, eating is a very contemplative thing for me. and i love trying food from various cultures. there's so much you can learn about a way of life from its substinence.

I wish I could say I only ate when I was hungary. I eat when Im hungary, sad, bored, watching a movie, at a party, or when food is with in reach. It is a problem I am trying to fix. I would like to eat six small meals every day s I never get to hungary. Plus I am trying to keep healty snacks on hand. I would love to be as healthy as a horse when I am 84.

I am sure all of us would like to be healthy as a horse like my aunt at 84 but I think it has to do with her easy going personality as well. She doesn't eat according to her moods but then, she is rarely upset or angry, in fact, I seldom see her emotional. So let us all be calm...

i sometimes eat just cause i'm bored or if something looks and smells really good. i know it's a bad habbit but i can't help it. i don't overheat though i'll just eat a little.

Yess, but before sometime..nearly a year ago i just start eating what i see..fast food is what mu favorite..like burger,pizza etc..but since last month i never felt like eating..i'm just fed up of all that junk food..its so boring...now I only eat when i get hungry...which is i think good for health.

I eat whenever i have to and whenever i want to. My mouth won't stop taking foods but still im skinny :) but i can say i healthy because i can t see no signs of illness in my body like dyspepsia or any other gastric tummy problems. I take regular meals (3meals a day) plus other snacks. Sometimes Ive noticed myself too eating every other two hours but i dont really got any problems with that I just digested my food well and know how to rest after eating. I dont skip meals too. Some people have a low body resistence and gets ill whenever they catch one. Some really have eating disorders and irregular food intake thats why they get stomach problems.

I eat 3-4 times a day. I usually skip breakfast (although I know it is the most important meal of the day) because I really have no time in the morning to do so. I eat regularly during lunch & dinner. Sometimes if I feel hungry, I also have a snack in the afternoon.

No, I do not. We always see to it to eat on time. Like have breakfast at 7am, snacks at 10am, lunch at 12nn, snack at 4pm and dinner by 7pm. But if your stomach is already used to a certain eating,I guess there'll be no problem.

That's an interesting question here. I usually eat when i feel hungry, but if when thing delicious lie in front of me, I would not care if i am full or not, just swallow it up.That's why i usually feel uncomfortable after the lunch, beacuase i would eat everything~
