I have a feeling that JK Rowling would let Harry Potter die in Book 7. I know that it was being foretold that Harry could defeat Voldemort by his greater power. But I remember the phrase in one of the books that "neither can live while the other survives". My interpretation is just so literal that if Harry's life will totally end in Book 7, so does Voldemort. It's some kinda possible that what JK would like to depict in book 7 is that there will be a union between good and evil. But i'm not quite sure. It's just my predictions. I don't want Harry to die. I'm still hoping that there might be some better twists in his last adventure. I'm looking forward on Hermione's role here too. If she had saved Harry's life in the beginning, I do hope she will still be able to save him in this final chapter.
What do you think? Will Harry still survive? Will he really die?

Oh yes, the much awaited last book. Hmm..from a hindsight point of view, it's best to remember that Harry was saved from Voldemort by LOVE. LOVE of a mother.. now, who's to say that what will save him again is LOVE..LOVE from a friend? A lover? Hermoine? Ginny? I'm a scriptwriter and a good story always has a good CONNECTIVE TISSUE, and JK Rowling is the master at it. Now, it may also be, that Harry is living out his life as well as Voldemort's early life together. He does after all have Voldemort's power.
So, as a whole, my opinion on the matter is NO. I do not think Harry will die in the last book. Not because the hero always lives but because it just wouldnt be a good ending to a highly successful series. The reason that Dumbledore had to die in the Half-blood Prince is because it's part of the "Hero" formula. A mentor/teacher has a to die. This creates a twist and therefore fuels the drive for the Hero to muster up his wits and strength to get ready for the final epic battle. Hence, the last book. This is a well-plotted series by JK Rowling. If you'd like to know more about how a traditional Hero story is made, try Googling "A Hero's Journey"

Connective tissue! YES, I see it now. I think I knew it all along, but was unable or just not brainy enough to put the term to the technique. I tried explaining to my daughter why Voldemort had to die, even if it was sad. It will be interesting to see if the LOVE from a friend (Hermoine) or a lover (Ginny) will be the the love that save's Harry.
I am Googling "A Hero's Journey" to see what pops up. Thanks for the insight.

i think harry potter will die in book 7. i've once read an article in the internet that some authors, specially those who write "series" type of books, kill their hero or leading character in order to prevent unauthorized fake authors to write stories using the same character. nevertheless, we never know what's on JKR's mind, so let's all just wait and see...

I have heard that too. And who knows that might be one of the reasons if JKR would end up letting Harry die on her last book. But if it's one of the reasons, it must have to end in such a way that people would not regret of following Harry Potter's series. I'm just too excited to read the finale. So many questions have lingered in our minds already. :)

i dont know...if harry potter will die in book number four but i think movies with special effects like this should be banned because it is scary and makes us think that it is okay to have negative images of man's wicked thoughts.
why can't we choose to start thinking about God's love to us?

I have no idea. That's one trend I never followed. Come to think of it, I don't really care to follow trends in general. When the entire world starts raving about something, I will usually stay away from it. Why follow the crowd? I like to find things out for myself, rather than hear what the world things of it before I have the chance to discover it on my own.

Yes i too have a hunch that he will die fighting voldemont. Both the hero and the villain will die(My guess too). Who knows what Rowling has in mind. Lets us wait and see what the seventh book has in store for us.

I don't think so. Harry will never die.
After all he is the hero of whole story.

U may note that JKR later clarified that the prophecy could be horribly misleading. But I do agree that she will most probably kill Harry.........

If I remember it correctly J.K Rowling said something like she will not kill Harry Potter in book 7. So I don't think Harry will die.

well for me, I'm more on the positive side. I think he'll live.I'm just a simple minded person so i don't really give many or different interpretation to those lines. I simply understood it that the two can't exist together at the end. So one of them should die. And if think on voldie living and harry dying that would mean evil wins over good. But i like to think (and it's usually the trend) that good wins over evil.. and harry being good wins over voldie..meaning he lives...one more thing, i didn't recall any statement saying that his life should be sacrificed in order to defeat voldie...i don't know, maybe i'm just a sucker for good endings with the hero still alive...
