My youngest son was born with Cerebral Palsy almost 27 years ago, we had two older boys they were 15 and 17, We were told he wouldn't live and if he did he would probably be a vegetable, He now has his HND in computing and doing 2 university courses, I started to write poems and this was the second one I wrote about him xx
ISN'T HE GOOD
He really is special he's our youngest son
When he was born nothing much could be done
With the cord he was strangled no air could he get
They said he wouldn't last long but wait there's more yet
They said oh! my dear please try not to worry
As they all rushed about in the ward in a hurry
They didn't expect Well! They just didn't know
That into a handsome young man he would grow
They thought he would die, really no one was sure
Or if he'd be a wee boy who's health would be poor
But he's proved them all wrong cause they didn't expect
He's brilliant our son and he's not finished yet
He works with computers and he's brilliant we think
As he's working so hard and is just on the brink
Of making a brilliant career for himself
Yes I'm talking about Ross! You know. Well! Who else!

Thats a really great poem.
I have an uncle that has cp he is almost fifty now, and he is married with two children. His youngest also has cp.
He said that some forms of cp are inherited but not all of them.,I think that his son was born wiith the cord around his neck. And he was too early.
His son is doing well now though.
Also my uncle has an extremely high IQ.
When he first started to school the school wanted to put him in the disabled classes until they found out he was too smart for those classes.
He also has his own businesses.
Your son has a lot going for him, and having cp does not mean that you can not get married and have kids and do everything that anyone else can that does not have that,
Some things may be a little harder, but with dedication and hard work your son can accomplish just about anything that he sets his mind to do.

i was really touched with your poem. i almost cried reading it..LOL...im glad that he survived all odds. i guess for anyone who had a problem wither health condition, personal or whatever for as long as you have your loving family around you who support all way out theres nothing u cant conquer. your family and your son is a living example on that..i salute you specially your son for being a brilliant man, now no one can look down those special people like him. for sure he is a stronger man. godbless you all!

That's a beautiful poem. My fiance's two younger sisters both have CP and his parents were told similar things. Well, now Lauren(the youngest) is about to start college on a full scholarship. It's amazing what people can do against all odds.

Oh dear Weemam, this is dreadful how your son ended up with Cerebral Palsy, I understand now by reading your discussion it was caused by the cord strangling him no air to his brain. You never can tell and nobody else would know what a bright son that Ross would turn out to be. Congratulate Ross from me and tell him I am very happy for what he has done with his life.

It's ever hard for a mother to give up on her children. And i hope i would never be put in that kind of problem. I'm very proud of you as a parent, for giving hope to your child. And watching your child succeed in something that he loves. I wish you the best of luck, for days to come

Nice poem. A miracle happens on you youngest son. Someone on this platform had shared similar experience as yours. She tells people here that where there is life, there is hope. She tells us never give up even your are diagnosed by medical professionals to die soon or remain paralyzed for the rest of you life, because life is a wonderful thing, is may break through all kinds of oppression and continue to survive.

Hey you know what, you're such a wonderful mother! In a mother's eyes, a son is always her son, no matter whether he is healthy or has cerebal palsy. I'm very touched by your poem. Take this misfortune as an opportunity to turn into good fortune. I'll also keep you and Ross in my prayer, that both will win over any circumstances. Keep it up.

That's wonderful to know about your miracle child. You are a great parent!!! It must be a tonic for those parents who are undergoing this type of problems. I would encourage such parents to come forward and write their problems and the miracles they had undergone.Good luck!!!
