My kids and i wants to have a dog. But my husband wants a cat. Thats not the problem, but my husband said we cant have a pet in the house, one reason it will add 1 more responsibility and i am already too busy, besides fr that when we travel with the kind or work he has, we could not just leave the pet since of course you will gonna be worrying too. So my question is how do you handle this when you have a pet especially if it will get so attach to you already then you will travel or even if you are just in the house and you have kids, house hold chores, etc.?

Don't get a pet when you travel a lot. It just break your heart to leave your pet behind. Once you are all settled in and know that you will not be travelling around, then it is time to have a pet. If your kids love dogs, you can take them to a puppy nursery so they can see and pet them. I always love to go to one with my husband and daughter although we already have a daschund at home. We are hoping to get another daschund in the future and breed them. They are just so cute.

Thats what we are doing actually but then i just didnt do it anymore cause my 4 yrs old will just cry cause she really like the puppy. She is seeing it everyday in school when the parents pick up their kids, they also bring their cute puppies, she keeps asking me everyday to have a small dog. I had a pemiranian when i was single and showed her the picture and she really like it. But then ok maybe got to wait for the right time. Thanks for the time and comments.

If you're too busy, and travel too much, this is not the right time to get a pet. They are a lot of responsibility, and if you can't give them the attention they need, get a goldfish.

yes, its hard to leave them when they are already attached to you, i had one before i got married, i have to leave it to my mother, but i had to deal with my feelings as my husband doesnt like a dog ..lol. althought it was a tiny dog.

It sounds like your family is not really ready for a pet yet. If you have doubts, don't do it. Getting a pet is a HUGE responsiblity. If you are already too busy as it is, how will the added responsibilities be on you? And you know you're going to end up having to do the bulk of the work! Personally, I think dogs are a lot more work than cats. Having a pet can be wonderful, rewarding in more ways than one, etc. but if you don't have the time and the means to do it, then don't. If you are still planning on getting one, then when you travel, you can either a) have a pet sitter/neighbour/friend come to your house daily to feed and walk (dogs) b) put the pet in a pet motel/boarding c) leave the pet with a trusted friend/neighbour.

really want to have one, i like a small dog, and i had 1 before i got married, but had to leave to my mother as my husband really doesnt like a dog, it really hurts seeing her sometimes but well i just thought will have another one later and just have to concentrate to have kids on my own. Thank you for the advice, at least i know that to do then when we get one and if we will get one.

I don't see a real reason there. when I have to travel I ask to a friend to take care of my dog while I am traveling I think it is a good idea for you.
