Don't you feel sorry for George Bush?

It is one thing to be inept, and elected only because the previous president got his sverve on with an intern. It is entirely another thing being inept, arrogant, and in charge of the leader of the free world. I feel for the poor man. He was in over his head from day one.

No. There is no need to feel sorry for him. He is a brave man that made some decisions and has stuck by them.
I find it amazing how many people (who obviously have never been in that position) are quick to judge someone who is leading the Free World.
A Yale and Harvard educated man, who was elected Governor of a State and twice elected president being called inept is a horrible example of the level to which the country has sunk.
Even in the worst years, Clinton was never berated this badly.

I agree with all of what you say...except..feeling for him. I would feel for him but my hands are too busy covering my ears when he speaks. I don't like to let the idiocy into my mind.
He is a LEGEND in his own mind..I'll leave it at that.

The man has lived his life in over his head, its only Saudi money that kept his businesses afloat and that was only given because they knew one day he would be president. Why feel sorry for an arrogant and in articulate puppet..I bet he dosnt feel sorry for you!

I do not feel sorry for him. The choices he made were his choices. No one forced him to make the decisions he did make. I feel sorry for the people that have to live with the decisions he made and have to go on with their life's now.

I agree with you that he is in over his head, but I would not waste my sympathy on him. He is in complete denial over what is going on in the world. He either does not listen to advisors who don't share his opinion or he is shielded from hearing those opinions, I don't know which. In the meantime people are dying, injured, have their lives torn apart on both sides of the Iraq conflict, and here at home things are not so rosy either. My sypathy lies with the people who had enough faith in him to re-elect him.

The only good thing that can be said about George is that even such a man of limited talents got to be President! How on Earth did he manage that?
Well, at least he'll be gone in 2 years! :)
Cheers!

The previous president couldn't be re-elected--after FDR's election record of 4 times, an amendment was passed to prevent that from happening againt. The current president is there because of the republican party's decision to have their own personal 'yes' man--did you ever stop and wonder why the VP was hidden away immediately after 911 but the president was all over? And how there was a big deal over the Clintons' finances being put into a blind trust yet we heard little to nothing about the same for the Bushes? The state that was at the center of TWO presidential election controversies was governed by...the president's brother? It's just a big too cut and dried for me (or a conspiracy if you ask me, LOL!)

Inept, arrogant and in over his head.
The same terminology could be applied to Billy Bob Clinton, and in fact was, on more than one occasion.
It is very easy to sit in judgment and try to second guess those who are in office.
I keep wondering how things would have went if 9-11 had occurred a year earlier than it did.
Would the same people who thought that Clinton could do no wrong still have such a high opinion of him?
Or would people be cursing him for the decision that he made as a result of that day?
People tend to turn a blind eye towards things that happened in previous administrations, and that is understandable as the past is now gone and the present is here.
It is so easy to blame a leader for the present circumstances but the sad reality is that we are governed by events.
The decisions that were made as a result of 9-11 can not yet be fully judged as the story has yet to be played out.
As far as the VP being "hidden away", it is the vice presidents job to stay in the background and keep quiet.
Why do you think Reagen chose Bush Sr. as his VP? It wasn't because he liked him, for he didn't. They had many opposing views. It was to muzzle him so Reagen could do what he wanted without Bush interfering.
Bush has made the decisions that he thought were best.
Whether or not they were good decisions will not be known for many years.
History will be the judge, not the present.

Hmmm...feel sorry for George Bush? Nope. feel sorry for the next elected president? Yep. There is no doubt the acts of 9-11 were unforseen and we could speculate forever on how somebody else may have handled it. My problem with Bush was not how he handled 9-11, but how he's handling things now. A blind man could see the majority of Americans want a different course in Iraq and for our country. This guy is like a stubborn child that won't listen while his house is burning down. I'm still not sure how he got elected a second term. And as far as comparing Bush to Clinton, at least we didn't lose 3100 troops in Kosovo.
