Have you or would you have laser eye surgery? Does it hurt? Does it work? Do you think you should leave well alone and be happy with what you've got? Luckily I've got really good eyesight but I expect it will go at some point in my life! My friend is thinking of getting surgery - just wondered if anyone out there had gone through this type of procedure and could give me your thoughts on it or if you haven't would you? To me if I had got bad eye sight, then I would definately think about getting it done!

I myself have had laser eye surgey and was slightly scared at first, but it's like going to the dentists you fear it and then it's over quick, It corrected my blurry vision and my eyesight has been perfect ever since, I'd recommend it to anyone who needs to sort their vision out, but it may not be suited for everyone!

ive had in excess of 20 opperations on my eyes. I was born totally blind and had opperations to give me sight. I finally came off the blind register when i was 8 years old. Operations on your eyes are very painful and dont always work. I certainly would never have elective surgery on my eyes, but each to their own

I have a friend who had it done- he is very happy with it- I would advise that your friend research into the drs before having it done. That is very important for this type of surgery and get a second opinion too- some places don't care if you are a candidate or not.

I wouldn't.
I'm a chicken when it comes to things going near my eyes. although i do have perfect eye sight, happens while eating carrots lovely carrots. =)
(i was rabbit in a former life)
I would give my father enough to go get it down if i had it. he often complains about his glasses. (we know people whos had it done and it's worked, we've only known one person who has had side effects but nothing major) just headaches every now and then but it says you can experince this in the little leaflets =)
kudos!

Yes if I absolutely needed eye surgery I would however Never would I have laser eye surgery. My first husband had laser eye surgery and the results were absolutely fantastic, he could see better than ever but it only lasted for awhile then it all went downhill. In the end his eye went rotten and had to have it removed and went blind sometime after. I know they're improving as time goes on but No I would not. Take Care. Grandmaof2

Sorry I forgot to completely answer the question, No it didn't hurt at all and it was fairly fast. He had laser surgery twice once was for retina detatchment that was the first time and cataract the second time. He was in a lot of pain associated with headache after the eye went rotten but absolutely no pain due to the actual laser eye surgery.
I hope this helos, but ALWAYS reserch and ask questions and understand the answers then get a second oppinion.

I have already had laser eye surgery on one eye to remove a cateract of my eye. No it does not hurt you are given a secative, yes it did work. The only thing is before anyone operates on your eyes it to have a blood test as well as I had mine done but due to sugar diabeties which was found out later I have problem with my eye but you can see better like when you were around the age of 16.

The technology has developed, and now you can get rid of your glasses. The problem is for my opinion is that it's dangerous. I don't mind to do other surgeries in other places in my body, but in my eyes it's just too scary. You can get blind because of it. I really don't know how the doctors do this kind of surgery, and I don't know how much precent it can work, but you need to talk to someone who did this surgery, and can answer to your questions. Lucky me that I have a very good eyesight.

I think eye surgery is good and not hurt. It is one of the best way to clear our eye sight.

I wear glasses but I can't get laser surgery as my bad eyesight is down to having weak eye muscles, so laser surgery would be useless. I also think that I look better with glasses so I probably wouldn't have it done. But if I could have the surgery, and looked better without glasses, than I'd have it done..:)

my brother in law actually just had the laser eye surgery. he had to wear glasses a lot or contacts and since he has a baby now and he keeps pulling down on the glasses, he's just been getting irritated of wearing them. so he decided to get the surgery. it was only an hour or so for actually sugery and they gave him a hotel room to rest in after the surgery. he said there wasn't any pain and he just needed to put eye drops in his eyes for a week and he had to wear goggles while sleeping and protective glasses for a week as well, and of course sun glasses while outside for a while while the eye heals itself. but he thinks it was great. he sees clear and only in the first week he occasonally got some blur spots, but everything is great and he doesn't need his glasses anymore.

I wear glasses all the time (except when i sleep) and have done so ever since i was a little kid. I have considered corrective laser surgery to fix my short sightedness, but i always think that "what if it went wrong?" I could end up in a worse position than before. Wearing glasses isnt that bad.
If anyone decides to have the surgery, make sure you go to a fully qualified and experienced surgeon - you wouldnt want a inexperienced doctor to mess things up and make you go blind.

Laser eye surgery doesn't hurt at all. Just go and do it and it'll be over soon. If you need more information regarding this, i know a company that specializes in eye surgeries. They have a pretty good website as well (ahem ahem)...
You can go to their contact us form for inquiries. The website is www.perlmancenter.com
It is very informative and they have a page that discusses laser eye surgery. hope it helps.
