It totally depends on what is it for. If possible ill go for the desktop since it is cheaper and easily upgradable. As for the laptop its the mobility that i like. i can bring it anywhere. but it is expensive and barely upgradable.

i agree. the upgrade feature seems to be the drawback for laptops.

I definitely prefer a desktop. But I really would love to have a laptop so I can easily bring something to LAN parties. :)

it gets a lot of getting used to i believe. specially if a user is new in using the trackpad and the cramped keyboard.

I have a laptop, and I love it!!! I love being able to travel with it, and take all my music and files with me whereever I go.

Though I would say I would prefer a laptop better for its portability, I can never completely put out desktops, I have been using a desktop for the longest time and then I wanted a laptop, now I am using my uncle's laptop since I am here in the US visiting, and I just never felt the difference between the two.
But bottomline, I would still wanna get my laptop real soon. Maybe a macbook.

laptop looks more cool. there are desktops though that are "dressed" up as well. functionality wise, desktops tend to have more muscle compared to the laptop.

Laptop - no doubt. I get far more use out of my laptop - justifying the additional cost.
When my laptop becomes obsolete...it will be more then worn out, which would not happen with a desktop.

yes. how bout the probabilities of upgrade. desktop can be upgraded while laptop is more costlier for that purpose

I prefer the laptop to the desktop. The laptop for it's convenience. It's easy to handle, takes up less space. It's mobile you can easily travel with it laptop. Desktops are basically stationary and are not that easy to move around as with a laptop. The laptop is one complete unit whereas the desktop need threee different compartments to make a complete unit.

i agree. the screen resolution of an lcd still lags compared to the regular monitor.

I prefer Laptop coz there are lot of difference between laptop and desktop of a computer. Laptop means always of the lap. Desktop is on the desk. that is the difference

bulky desktops cover our desk and thats too uncool. regarding laptop "dying", i guess you are referring to the battery life, the batteries that come with the laptops nowadays are better than before and will give you longer time for usage.

if it will risk your life ... then yes .. go for the traditional reliable desktop
