I know of a person whose day will not be complete without drinking a bottle or two of softdrinks. He would die if he won't take his regular dose of caffeine, sugar and carbonated water. He says that it gives him a very special shiver down the spine that makes him crave for more. When I asked him what is his favorite or more like between Coca Cola or Pepsi Cola, he gave me this stern look and said, "IT's like choosing between black and black." he said that as long as it is a cola, he's fine with that already, needless to say the brand or what, as long as something cold and yummy slide down his dry throat.

It's like a coffee addiction...some people have to have the sugar and caffeine everyday. If he stopped, he'd probably get headaches until it was out of his system. Thankfully, I stopped drinking pop almost a year ago...it's unhealthy. Also, I rarely drink coffee.

Good for you for stopping these drinks. I am the same way. Although I can't say I have stopped drinking these beverages completely. I only have them a few times a year.
I know of many people who have talked with me about caffeine headaches when they are attempting to cut back and also that they will get them when they have caffeine after a long time without. I encourage them to drink lots of water to help rid themselves of toxins more effectively.

Your friend definitely has an addiction. I wouldn't personally agree that all colas are exactly the same but I definitely would agree that they are all unhealthy!
Your friend would likely go through the withdrawals as any addict would given that he says he gets a high (shiver) from the drinks.
I think it's unfortunate that this generation is not interested in what is good for them but rather what tastes good. I believe they don't realize the price that will be paid in their later years for this instant gratification.
I hope you help your friend realize the harm he is doing to himself. Get him to drink some (lots) of water!
