With all the horrific killings in the uk, that seem to be getting more horrific.Murders, the child rapists, the bombers, now the gun culture, could any one tell me as things appear to be getting worse, should we adopt harsher penalties, capital punishment, flogging, hard labour,a stiff talking and let them free, as our jails are to full,or nice self contained centrally heated little rooms, well fed and watered for a short number of years, which constitutes a life sentence,[ which is more than I can afford being on pension].No polititian seem to have any satisfactory solution. As any one more.

There is no use in giving punishments like flogging etc. to criminals . It will not prevent them from committing crimes again and again. I feel that a good punishment should involve making the person do some good for the society like cleaning roads, handling garbage and other tasks which involve hard labor but at the same time they provide some
service to the society. I am totally against a comfortable existence to these people as the money for their existence comes from taxpayers
money (so the limited funds should be used with care).

I don't think that people who kill should be killed. For starters we can't always be sure that it is the right person who is being punished for the crime. Also to kill back makes us as bad as them.
Instead I think we need to do more research into finding out why people do things like this and see if we can stop it happening.
