They pay people to paint their cats, it can cost up to 15,000.00 and it lasts 3 months when their hair grows out. Is this crazy or what????

Well I've heard of it - yes. Don't think you can do it here in the UK though. But personally I would never do it, anyway. Cats keep themselves clean by constantly licking, and grooming themselves, and each other. I would be scared the paint would be toxic, and could damage them. Also, some cats have very sensitive skins (like some humans), and can suffer with eczema, and allergies to some products, so I think it could be quite cruel, as well as bizarre. I think all cats are beautiful as they are - just as nature intended them. If you ever look closely at the markings of a tabby, or a ginger cat for example, there are so many different shades and hues - it would be criminal to hide that in my opinion.

I agree - I love my dogs faces just as they are, and I tell them that everyday "i love these faces"!!! I just don't see the point of doing that, like I said it's one thing to dres up your animal now and then for fun but quite another to dye their fur. And your right about the allergies, one of my dogs had terrible allergies to lots of things, you never know.

I never heard of such a thing why would they do it? And I think it would be bad for the cat especially if the cat cleans itself by licking their fur.

not sure what they use but someone sent me an email about it yesterday with all different cats painted with different designs. One was painted like and American flag and another was paintedlike a kilt- others had wild colors. Very strange, not sure how they got them to hold still?

These people that do this are spoiled and have so much money, they will waste it on almost anything. Even painting their animal toe nails.

The wasted money that gets me is for the expensive poochwear that is made available for them! Sometimes it is a bit ridiculous. I think it wold be fine to dress a dog for Halloween but for everyday?

How stupd and how degrading for the poor cats as cats are very proud animals with a lot of dignity. Wish someone would paint them with indelible ink or paint and make them stay looking like idiots for ever.!!

I would never do that to my dog- I may dress him up now and again but never dye or paint his fur, Some people have nothing better to do with their time or money I guess.

It seems like kind of a strange idea to me, and I would hope that they're being very careful to use non-toxic paint. I wonder how much it costs? I can't even imagine why someone would want to spend money on something like that, but hey. I guess if it isn't hurting the cat, that's the main thing, but I still think that it's kind of a waste of money, lol *laugh*

Some people I'm afraid have more money than sense these days! I personally wouldn't get it done - how stupid would they look lol poor things they would be the laughing stock of the nearest alley! I know something, my cats wouldn't even let you go near them with paints never mind sit still long enough for them to do it! Madness!

laughing stock of the alley LOL- thats funny. You sound like me, my father in law was gonna shave one of our dogs cause he was always hot in the summer and itchy (Rusty has since passed) but anyway he only shaved like two lines down the dogs back and decided it was to much work to keep the dog still while he did this, I cam home and said what happened, and laughed and said the poor dogs is gonna be the picked on at the park!!! LOL

You know you're right tthis is a fine example of someone having more money than sense. But I think he might be some sort of Photoshop trick, because upon opening my email again and looking, one of the cats is decorated with a giraffe print!

With the way cats lick themselves I would not put my cats through that. Also the 15,000 dollars is much better spent on worthwhile things. Of course if I was the painter then I wouldn't have to work outside my home. I could live on that much money. I call it crazy, except for the painter.

I can't believe that people would be so stupid and cruel to the cats! It must be torture for the cat to be held down while it is painted, and the paint on his fur would drive him crazy; we all know how clean and proud cats are by nature. Why would anyone want their cat to look like a flag? Or anything else except a cat? Someone from the Humane Society should go out and paint the humans who do this with that foul-smelling oil-based paint that is impossible to remove, and if you try it rubs your skin off! Let's see how they like it.

I had never heard of this before yesterday when my friend sent me an email with lots of pictures of painted cats. I thought it was a photoshop trick and i was thinking it was pretty cool. BUt I wouldn't do it to a cat unless there was money attached with a guarantee that my cat wouldn't be hurt!

I got that email too. I know for a fact that some of those pictures are "photo shopped." This makes me suspect the rest.
