Okay, well it's not the heat or the humidity. And it's not really the cold....it's the WIND! Here on Long Island, in New York, we got slammed by an ice storm. I am trying to chop the block of ice that I usually call my sidewalk, and being outside it absolutely brutal. It's really not so much the cold, it's the darn wind!

Hi quispy, I hate it when the wind is like that - I'm guessing you get it probably 10 times worse there than we do here but it still chills you to the bone! I'm not a big lover of the cold but when the wind blows and puts the shivers through you then it's horrible! Roll on summer!

I happen to be a winter person, love the snow, but the wind is quite the killer!

I know exactly what you mean about the wind making it so much colder. And no, I don't live on Long Island. I live in North Dakota. So we don't even have trees or very many buildings to block the wind! We got really excited today because the windchill was just barely under zero. IT was -50F here earlier this week. And nearly impossible to keep a hood up on your head.

No dear, you are not chopping ice becuase of wind but because of cold. It is the cold and whether it is the cold or the wind doesn't the wind normally come with the cold? Either way whether the wind blows or not when it's cold outside and your out there IN it you are cold not winded right? Today in the Palm Springs area it is 73 degreees at 9:42 am on Friday the 16th of February with a high forcast temperature of 83 and a low of 54. I love southern California, no ice except at the ice skating rink.

Thanks! I just responded to your balmy post! No, I could take the cold, it's the wind that is just ripping through you and tearing your hood off. It's not pleasant.
