Ok, everyone loves ice creme, or at least most people do. I know it is one of my many weaknesses. But what is the weirdest flavor you have ever heard of, and what is the most disgusting flavor as well.
I know an ice creme shop where I grew up used to have a garbage flavor, it was called that because it was simply all the dregs from all the other flavors mixed into one bin and sold. It was actually a really popular flavor.
But that is nothing compared to this raw horseflesh flavored ice creme. Yes that's right, raw horseflesh ice creme. I am not making this up, found in on MSN, apparently it is called Basashi-Aisu. No idea if people actually like it, but thought that definately should top the list.
Anyone out there heard of other odd flavors?

I thought cheese ice cream was pretty gross sounding. I wouldn't buy it!

i think i understand the concept of the filipino cheese ice cream. think tiramisu made with ricotta or mascarpone cheese...it's actually quite sweet! (and yes i have eaten tiramisu ice cream, it's awesome!)
here we have a lot of arabic restaurants, and there is one ice-cream shop that sells rose flavor and achta flavor. achta is basically their type of 'cream cheese'....so it is a wee bit sweet. they usually replace whipped cream with achta. and since they have an ice-cream machine on site, they are able to turn the achta into ice cream :)
weirdest flavor : wasabi. i wanted to try, and by the time i got up the guts, the restaurant that served it stopped putting it on their menu :(

Cheese flavor ice cream is a regular flavor here in the Philippines. It may sound strange to have cheese known to be salty to be an ice cream flavor but it is a common flavor here. In fact, it's one of my favorite flavors, cheese is made from milk and complements the milk's creamy taste. You have to try to taste it to enjoy it.

Already I gotta ask, do you really spell it "creme" in Canada or is that just you?
The weirdest one I've ever heard of was brocolli. I never tried it, but it doesn't seem it would be one I would want to. It's acutually amazing to me what kind of conconctions they come up with. But I have to admit, I really haven't met one that I didn't like.

ummm no, I honestly don't know why I put creme instead of cream. Sometimes I type faster than I think and I end up getting stuck on a spelling that isn't quite right. I apologize for that, thanks for pointing it out ;).
Broccoli, man never heard of that one.... sounds ummm interesting. As much as I love broccoli I just don't think it would taste good in ice cream.

Well we Canadians love anything frozen, after all everything is frozen up here, so why not our cream too LOL.... yes in fact we are not actually odd enough to spell cream creme in most cases.... however flavor is properly spelled flavour and the correct spelling of color is colour ;)

The strangest one I ever tried was Superman ice cream when I was a kid. It was filled with gum balls so you're trying to chew gum and eat ice cream at the same time...not easy. The gum gets really hard when it comes in contact with the frozen ice cream and the colors all start to bleed everywhere.j
The grossest flavor I'd heard of was garlic...that is until I read the disgusting one you just mentioned...ewww.

Hmmmm...I work at a hotel and am part of the Quality Assurance team so I get to taste literally every new product that goes in and just last week here are the icecream flavors I have tasted
1. Amaratto (its scotch and rhum icecream)
2. Tomato and Basil (would really be much better of if it were just a dip, and not dessert)
3. Garlic (if its with rice I guess it would be just fine, but icecream? the flavor's way too strong)
4. Olive Oil (I'd rather have it with my Pesto thank you..)
5. Black Olives (really nice...hehe...chefs said I had weird taste to start with)
6. Creme Brulee (absolute heaven! , I really am into the thing ever since)
7. Anchovy (what the?!...hehe...can you imagine?)
To summarize, based on my tastebuds, creme brulee and amaratto are the best and the most appropriate deserts, black olives would do just fine...as for everything else, it would be much better to leave them as is, in their original state, and definitely not as ice cream.
hehe...bon appetit!

Wow, some of those are truly strange. Now I'm hungry for flan, but it's not in ice cream form.

I've heard of some gross flavors ranging from squid ink to fish roe (thanks to Iron Chef) but the strangest I have ever eatem myself was cucumber (it was actually quite refreshing) and a flavor called Hearts and Flowers. Hearts and flowers was favored with flower petals and pretty much tasted like soap. I wouldn't reccomend it.

Fish roe is fish eggs. At least I thinkt hey used that on Iron chef once. That show was funny because I think they made all those terrible ice cream flavors just because the machine was there to use.
Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking when I tried the Hearts and Flowers ice cream. I probably just thought it was pretty looking.

I have heard of pistacio and mincemeat flavored icecream but dear God, nothing nearly as disgusting as horseflesh.
Garbage Ice cream sounds a lot like moosetracks, it has small peanut butter cups and caramel in it.
People are wierd, and so is their icecream.

I don't eat alot of ice cream, but my kids and boyfriend do. I think the strangest one I ever had was called bubblegum and as a child it used to be my favorite at Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, these days I am not so exciting, my favorite is Rocky Road.

I guess I'm not as cultured as everyone else, because the 'weirdest' I've ever had is fried green tea ice cream, and it's rather common in Japanese restaurants! Personally, my favorites are anything with coffee flavor, chocolate fudge, and caramel... yum! I also like to go to shoppes that allow you to customize. I love red peppermint ice cream with Oreo cookies crushed into it... minty cookies n' cream. Sorry if I'm going off topic here, but I'm pregnant and have mad ice cream cravings! I think the worst ice cream flavor I've ever had is 'wedding cake'... major dissapointment.

I saw horseradish ice cream once, but it was at a science fair or something weird like that. Ugh, imagine, but I think horseflesh would be MUCH worse!!

Garlic ice cream. I can't imagine what that would taste like.
Then again if I watch the food network and watch the iron chef competition someone is bound to make something crazy. Something like salmon with fish eyeballs or something equally icky.
Seems the Japanese like odd icecream flavors:

There were two that I liked growing up--something that the local shop in the mall sold called Rainbow (ice cream I believe) that I adored but haven't found since, and Black Raspberry with chocolate jimmies (or sprinkles, whatever you want to call them!). One that I ate for a while was Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey (banana & walnut) that was really good! Unfortunately, my teeth are super sensitive, so I rarely eat ice cream any more. Sorry they're not more weird.

O yeah count me in. I'm an ice cream lover.
The wierdest flavor of ice cream for me would be the bublegum flavor ice cream from Baskin Robbins 31.
I know lots of people like that, and just because I saw people like the flavor, I tried it once. And I still couldn't believe how people can eat that kind of ice cream. lol
I don't mean to disrespect, but the taste is very very weird to me. I was a bit scared as well, thinking, should I eat it knowing it's bubble gum or should i just spit the bubble gum? How was I suppose to eat the ice cream? But it's an ice cream, so I just ate it. But I don't like it.
I don't even know the Basashi-Aishu, but I wouldn't even bother myself to try it then. :D Eventhough I love ice cream.

The weirdest i have seen was Playdoh! My kids had it last summer and they liked it! I personally thought it was gross, it tasted just like playdoh smells! It was colored like superman only with more pastel colors like blue moon, yellow, green & pink!
You all have definately got me beat on this one!

I was watching a strange cookery program a while ago where a woman was, for some reason known only to herself, trying to make cheese flavoured ice cream. She was actually using real cheese to make it too. She used Stinking Bishop Cheese and also Brie (i think it was Brie) to make two different types of cheesy ice cream. When she tested them though she decided they didn't make very good ice cream!
