I want to but I just don't have the space so I am going to try and plant a few things in pots and set them in the kitchen.
Have any of you done this recently if you did how well did it work out.
DO you absoultely have to keep your house a certain temperature because my place gets very cold lately but in a few weeks it will be getting very hot,
Any advice on what will grow best inside.
TIA

You could plant some herbs in a pot for your kitchen, they do well inside, as long as they have some light from a window. Tomatos like hot weather so they would probably do well. When it gets too hot in your house you can put some mulch over the surface of the soil around the plants to protect the soil from drying out. you can use some decorative rocks, bark or marbles or even torn up newspaper. Hope this helps, good luck!

Yes my professor was just talking about growing tomatoes inside today. Sounds like a good bet!

I would love to be able to plant a little garden for the children to watch how things grow and to show them how to care for something themselves but we are not allowed to where we live . I tried to make one when we lived at another house but I am not really good at this but would love to be able to try it again . Unless we find a new place to live though we won't be able to do this .
I don't know much about what will grow inside but I know one year we grew green beans in the house . They didn't grow very big but they were big enough for the children to pick a few of them off and eat them .

One of the best things to grow inside is a lot of the herbs. From my understanding most vegetables require full sunlight longer than a window can provide.
I am hoping to get a small garden in this year. I was thinking of turning my whole front yard into one, but that will have to wait until next year.
The other thing regarding space, is if you have any space at all free, you might check out the concept of square foot gardening, it uses a lot less space. The book is available on Amazon I believe, but the concept is on the web, I just can't remember where right now.
