I cannot believe the website that I just found. It is legitimately written by a nurse who is helping women learn to pee from a standing position! There are instructions on how to pee without the aid of any device and then link to a device that an engineer was paid to invent that is called the travel mate! See for yourself..check these two links. What do you think of this?!
Website for instructions using no device:

Now this is funy. How can some people come up with such silly ideas. May be they can use there knowledge in some really helpful things for society. There is no way I am going to use such silly things.

I know 'sweetlady' seems all the money that engineer spent on developing that could have been used to develop something for a handicapped person or something. Geeze!

I was told by a friend whos' husband was stationed i Japan that women there pee standing up in a hole in the ground with their legs spread. I didn't have a good visual till I read the article. I don't think I will be trying this. I think the person who mentioned practicing in the shower is really disgusting. I can't believe the things people admitt to.

Without device ...hm I do not like it very much
Using device. I have alredy heard about it many years ago in tv. I think this product is good. It is very useful for example for mountclimbers. It can not be simple to pee in -15°C degree... Thought I have never tried. But I always envied the men, how simple the pee standing up for them. With this product it can be simple for women too. After using this, should I do it to my pocket?

That's crazy!! Why would a woman WANT to pee standing up??I don't want to. I didn't think that there were that many women in america that felt this was a pressing issue for people to be studying? And who is paying the people that are doing the studying up on this? It's crazy! lol

That is exactly what I was wondering! And imagine how much the engineer was paid!

I should make a website instructing men on how to go while sitting.
I wonder how successful that would be.

ROFLMAO!!! What a great response methodless. I like that twist. Actually, many men do, as when they sit to do a bowel movement they often feel the urge to pee too. They have to make sure it is directed down to the water! (assisting gentlemen in the bathroom is not one of the more glamorous parts of being a nurse, but a necessity..as many times a gentleman cannot be left alone there for fear of passing out of falling)

I will continue to cover the seat with toilet paper at a public restroom. I really don't feel like standing when I pee...call it laziness if you will...LOL!!
I really don't want to carry one of those things around. And how clean could I possibly get it at a rest stop to want to use that thing again? Or are you supposed to throw it away and use a new one?

Wow that's too funny. I don't think it would work for me. Nothing like sharing personal information with 70,000 people.. Due to my flesh eating bacteria I have a slight nick on the left side of my urethra.. so when I pee it all goes to the left. I have to hang a piece of toilet paper on the left side of the toilet so I don't pee out under the seat..lol I think I would benifit from the device though. I can't squat and go like other women or I will pee all over my left leg..hehehe It would really be great for me, like on long trips when the bushes call. I usually just suffer through hoping for the best while looking for a bathroom. *now showing very red face* lol ;)

This is awesome!
While travelling in Africa I have seen women p** standing up and have often wondered how they do it. Now I know thanks to your link.
The device is an awesome feat of engineering based on the testimonials seen on the website. No more hovering over wet toilet seats as they say!
Thank you for this information.

Wow I think that is a great idea. Women have had to stand in line far to long and sit on potentialy dirty stool tops. In fact my wife tells me a lot of women don't sit down so you can see what can happen there for the next person.
The travelmate would be the easiest to get use to but a bit of a problem carrying around I would think. So learning how to do it without that device would be the most convenient.
Now convencing most women to do this would be a challange I think.
But look at the advantage. How many times have women stood in line while the men's room is empty.
But it would be a new learning experiance I am sure.

THis never happens to me..but you did it..I am speechless.
I guess that might be handy..if I was married to brizzly adams and lived in the woods...but for the rest of us...ok, me --not a chance.
Maybe my next career change--when I become an astronaut

Yeah Deb, I too was pretty speechless (unless you count the uncontrollable laughter). It isn't for me either. I'm happy being a squatter.

why would anyone want this? I guess for sanitary reasons, but it really doesn't bother me to sit on a toilet. Wasn't it you who posted once about an experiment done where there was more bacteria on the floors and the door handle than there was on the toilet seat? Hmmmm...wierd to me, but that's just me. This person will probably make a million dollars while I am just sitting on public toilets. LOL

Yup, I was the one who posted that there is less bacteria on the toilet seat than the door handles. Yet, for some reason some women now want to be able to stand to pee! You know, it just hit me, people are going to think that I am obsessed with bathrooms and bathroom habits! Ha!

Unreal...sounds like a case of 'wet shoes waiting to happen' to me, hehehe. How nuts! It used to be we complained about guys aiming wrong and getting the floor wet, now we're going to have *that* too! Sheesh! No thanks!

In Europe we have these things made of paper, so you can throw them away after using. They cost next to nothing for a package of 5 and are very handy when you travel by car along the highways. Toilets on the parking lots are very often not very hygienic and with this you don't have to hang over the toilet... which in 8 out of 10 times goes wrong... yuk!
To answer your question that might pop up now... yes, I have used them while on the road! The first time it is a bit awkward, but after that... just fine! Very recommendable, LOL

How weird! I can't imagine too many uses for this type of thing. I know they make a female urinal thing for when you're camping and don't want to get out of the tent at night. That's not bad. And things for handicapped people are fine, makes things easier. But not for the general public. Every restroom has toilets, and even if they're not the cleanest, you can still squat over them. Women's bodies just aren't designed to go standing up, unless you don't care that it covers your legs.
