Should women be submissive to their husbands?

The Bible states in Ephesians 5:22-23 "Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord, because the husband is head of his wife as the Christ is also head of the congregation" Reading further in verse 28 it says that men should love their wives as their own bodies. " He who loves his wife also loves himself" What do you think about this? Do you think that this could be an opening for men to abuse their power over the family, or will most take it to heart and use it as a guide for a happy family life?

The idea here is that somebody must make the choices for the family. It is a huge responsibility and all decisions must be made with the good of the family in mind. If the husband truely loves the wife as intended her being a 'subject' of the husband is not a concern. They both have a job to do. His is to provide and protect the family hers is to teach and nurture. They go hand in hand. One is not higher than the other. I've always taken this verse to mean that a situation arises that both cannot agree on, the last word is the husbands. It is more a matter of trust but somebody must have the last say.

It's refreshing to know that someone else has the same view as myself. Christ being the head of the congregation does so lovingly and keeps only the best interest of all involved. The same goes for the family. I've been criticized by some because I seek the input of my husband before making most decisions. My home and family life benefits which makes things run smoothly and efficiantly.

I think all individuals should think for themselves. Letting someone else think for you is not a good thing
