Where did you drive to and was it essential? I know alot of people in the USA do roadtrips for 'fun' just wondered what your destinations were and did you have fun along the way? I have driven on a couple of occasions for 8 hours none stop once on New Years Day to collect someone over the other side of the country who was in trouble and needed my help, although thinking about it lorry drivers drive for this long everyday!

I once drive from central Iowa to Tennesee, non stop. I was the only one who had a drivers liscence and she kept falling asleep half the time. She only let me stop once for a nap, and when we needed gas. At the time it was fun and I would do it again I think. I love to drive long distance for the fun of it.

We drive all the time and take trips all the time. Our last one was driving back to Pittsburgh after spending Christmas in Chicago. My husband decided to take the "scenic" route through central Indiana, lol. It took us 11 hours to get home (with no real stops--other then bathroom breaks and getting gas--we ate in the car with 4 kids--it was crazy). Normally the trip takes us about 9 hours (that includes the 1 hour break we take to eat. When I was in high school I went with my mom and her brothers and sisters to Utah. We drove from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Cedar City, Utah (which is in the southwestern corner) in just 3 days. We drove 12 hours straight each of the first 2 days. It was exhausting. When my kids were younger we used to get in our car and just drive for hours with no destination in mind. We have been known to drive for 8-9 hours for no reason, only stopping really to eat.

My husband and I were moving. Both of our cars were fully packed and we drove about 9 hours until we finally stopped. The next day we only had to go about 3 or 4 hours to get to our destination.

Eight hours if I remember right. One time to Anaheim from Reno and another time to Las Vegas from Reno. We wanted to save and airfare would be too expensive. The road trip was fun and interesting. Although I really prefer to fly now. I was young then, I know better now.

A couple times back in the mid 1980s I drove (I was the passenger mind you) none stop from Fort Erie Canada to Dallas Texas....since then the longest would be 7 hours for me either goin to or returning from Dayton Ohio OR Allentown PA but for my husband it was 14 hrs cause he would drive me there then have to turn aorund and come home or he'd be driving up to pick me up and turing around to drive me home.

I drove 26 hours with several stops to stretch and relax. I went to the northern most part of the country to attend a friend's wedding. That was so tiring and the thought that I'm going to drive the same distance again coming back was terrible but didn't have a choice. As far as I know, that was the farthest distance I've ever driven.

The longest trip I ever did in one day (actually went until 2 in the morning of the next day.) My mom, sister & I were in Durango Co. when mom got a call that her aunt had fallen and possibly had a stroke. They wanted to release her from the hospital but nobody could be there to help her. (Such good local relatives in NJ depending the one who normally lives in TX to come.) We needed to get mom on a plane to NJ WITH a blizzard coming in. Turned out the local airport had been closed because they couldn't get any planes in. We piled in the car and drove to Alberquerque by noon to put my mom on a plane. My sis & I stopped to eat, then drove on to Amarillo, where we thought about staying, but the blizzard was to hit there around midnight. We had dinner at a chicken place with a friend of my sister's then drove on to Arlington Texas (between Ft. Worth and Dallas.) We started at 8 a.m. and got in at 2 a.m. Chased across 3 states by a blizzard. The next morning I drove on to Houston to be with other friends since Christmas with my family was shot!

I have driven about 7 hours while on vacation. My mom and I were going to the coast one summer. My husband is in sales and drives a route everday. When I go with him I probably spend almost that long riding around.

The farthest distance i have driven in a day is about 550kms by car. I had to go to a place where i had to see the site for the project. It was very tiresome day as i had to return back after travelling such a big distance. Total roundtrip was about 550kms.

My longest road trip was a 25 hour drive from Houston, TX to Toledo, Ohio. I was moving back from Texas and wanted to get it done and over with so I drove straight through only stopping for gas and potty breaks. When I got there I slept for 1 whole day then turned around and went back to get the rest of my belongings. I only needed to make 2 trips there and back to get my things (I had sold what I could in Texas) but did not go straight through on the second trip. The only thing that kept me going was it was in December and by the time I got down to the last 7-8 hours, I was so cold that I couldn't fall asleep at the wheel since I had no heat in my car. Now the longest I stay on the road is the 14 hour trip I make a couple of times a year from South Carolina to Ohio.

764 miles in one day had a reason to get to Fl. in a hurry from NJ the last 300 miles were done the next morning. I also used to go to my grandmother's to visit she was just over 600 miles away from where I lived yet we used to make this trip in one day. I didnt' see any reason to break the trip up. It was only a 12 hour trip normally. One year however it took over 15 hours, due to storms and road construction along the way.
