What keeps you going?

Everyday is a new challenge for us all.. life is never problem free.. however... when things get really tough.. what is it that separates you from those who commit suicide? What makes you want to continue your life and face these challenges head on even if you're not confident of being able to overcome them? For me.. it's the knowledge that I haven't enjoyed life to it's fullest and have yet to make my mark on this world. I also think suicide is a cowardly way to react to any situation no matter how hard it seems.

There are several things that keep me going 1.I get my push from thinking back on really tough situations I've been through. And I think of how much stronger it made me. It gives me an extra kick. 2.I think about "lazy" people who never even think about pushing themselves. Knowing I can is all the inspiration I need!!

I have Multiple Sclerosis, an illness that is dibilatating and presents new challenges everyday. Everyday I get up I go to work and I take care of my daughter because I am not going to let it win and when I have a really bad day I just think: God gave me this because I can cope with it and as long as I have it someone who could not cope with it doesn't have too. Then I get up and go work and take care of my daughter.

The knowledge that I have gone through worse, that I have love and support from others and from myself, and my aspirations for the future all get me through the challenges that I face - from the ordinary every day things, to the life-changing tragedies or hardships. I also have music, writing and other forms of artistic expression to relieve my stress. When things get too much, I focus on the positive, I go for long walks, I let myself cry, I listen to music and I confide in others as well as drawing on my own will.
