There's nothing worse than suddenly developing an allergy! Then you have to do some smart detective work to find out just what you are allergic too! Recently my eyes started to get really itchy, red and sore, and I developed a nasty stye above my left eye. I went to the doctor and she said it was an allergy and gave me some drops, the stye is gone, but now I've got to work out just what the allergy is!
Have you had this problem, you have to look at everything from food to clothes, to washing to animals to people even!

My youngest daughter even as a baby has severe allergies a fish and chip paper blew on her face in her buggy she looked like something out of a horror film!
She always carries an Epippen and has piriton tablets or lquid if she starts swelling.
Eventually they agreed to test her she has so many allergies the worst being peanuts, strawberries, fish and fur. She gets very tired because her body is fighting almost everything there is the list was over 30 pages long.
I buy organic vegetables get a box delivered every week and everything i buy has to be read its a bit of a nighmare.
The only thing i can suggest is elimination by trying different products one by one.
you can pay for a test i don't know if you can get them free unless its life saving GOOD LUCK!

Oh yes - I suffer from allergies too. It drives me crazy. Mine are usually chemical based - washing powder, washing up liquid, and some soaps, and cosmetics. I have to buy all the damned expensive hypo-allergenic stuff, and when I go away, and stay in a Hotel, I always have to take my own soap, and shower gel, because I dont know what is in the free stuff in the Hotel rooms. My partner suffers from chronic hayfever which makes him so ill in the Summer months, that sometimes he has to stay off work sick because he can't drive, or do virtually anything. Doctors say it's because pollen allergies are particularly bad in the South of England, and because he comes from a country with a much drier climate, and atmosphere, he developed no immunity to it as a child:-(( I hope you get your problems sorted out soon.

That's going to be tough tracking down what caused the stye .. it could be alomost anything ..
Have you changed your food recently ?? Any new cleaners or toiletries ?? What about your household detergents ?? Been to any new places ?? Or how about the gym you go to .. the stye could easily be caused by some sort of fungal reaction .. and we all know public places can have lots of microbes sitting there waiting to 'attack' us ...
Or .. and you are not going to like this .. or it could be a reaction to your eyebrow and eyelash mites .. and don't go EUGH! We ALL have them ... however much we wish we didn't .. they are called demodicids and here is the EWWWW factor .. as many as 25 demodicids have been found accumulated in ONE single human eyelash root eeeewwwwwww !!

The eyes are one of the most sensitive and vulnerable organs in the body.
Many allergens are in the air, where they come in contact with your eyes and nose.
Airborne allergens include pollen, mold, dust and pet hair.

LOL, Just thinking...
Did you wear an eye-patch and watch any "pirate video." While your eye was bad?
Every time someone asks you question you could have said say: "Eye, eye" or 'Upon infection I would say...'
and of course I hope if you said "Catch me...," to anyone you weren't referring to the infection? hehehe
I do hope your eyes are all better now? xxx
A stye is caused by bacteria from the skin that get into the hair follicle of the eyelash.
Hair follicles contain oil glands that become inflamed from the bacteria. Stye's are similar to common acne pimples that occur elsewhere on the skin. You may have more than one stye at the same time.
Any kind of dirt particle that gets in your eye can cause a sty, especially if you rub your eyes a lot with your fingers, they can also be spread from person to person by touching them.

Wolfie, I have to say, more than likely it is not an allergy. And, I say this, because I have had the exact same problem once, and after that, I have taken measure to always make sure that a sty does not form. One day, I had gotten some of my eyeshadow in my eye, and it was old eyeshadow, that I should have thrown away, but had wanted to finish it, before I did. The entire day at school, mmy eye was itching, and then, I noticed it was red when I got home (couldn't tell in school, because it was a reddish burgundy color, that was popular when I was in high school), I go to sleep, and then the next day, there it is a sty! I was so upset, all I did was put more and more drops to flush out the bacteria that had formed underneath the eyelid. I even moved my eyelid up, so that I could get some water in there. Recently, I have encountered a few times, when I have felt my eyes itch, perhaps from spores of bacteria in the air, etc (like your situation), and then, I pour some drops in, and the itching stops. If it doesn't I try to keep my eyelid under water as often as possible, because the last thing I want is a sty. My friend had them for years, and she needed surgery to get them removed...but, she used everyone's eye makeup, even eye liner (a big no-no), and a ton of her old ones. I, through all my old stuff away, and try to keep anything from getting in my eye. So, it was probably bacteria.

Yes, I had this experience when I attended a conference a the Philadelphia Convention Center. They served a lot of food, from appetizer to dessert. We were also served our choice of drinks. After the event, I started scratching my palms, then my arms, face, and butt! After several minutes of scratching, my sister noticed that my lips had thickened and my face had gotten so red that I felt it was gonna get swollen! I already had red blotches all over my body as well! I never had allergies my entire life, so this was a new experience for me. I never got to figure out the allergen, until I visited New York and bought a pretzel and a cup of coffee (with sweetener) from a street vendor. After eating, I started to itch. Luckily, I still had the anti-histaminic medicine in my bag. I realized that I was served coffee during the conference and I put Equal sweetener in it (the packet of which came with the coffee). I never had Equal until the conference, so I now know my allergen. Good thing I discovered mine, hope you'd discover yours!

I can't even drink a diet drink...my throat starts itching like crazy, lol. Maybe that's good since most sweeteners are supposed to be bad for us.

Wow, I never knew that. I do not use them, because I thought that they were bad for us unless we have diabetes...If I ever try one, and that happens to me, I will know what caused it.

I remember my family was on holiday at the beach a year ago, and my grandson suddenly had a swollen face. We could not find any insect bite and later in the evening his eyes were almost totally shut from swelling, and he had a hard time breathing. We panicked and brought him to a nearby doctor, who injected him right away. Just like what happened to you, the cause for the allergy could not be pinpointed, and he did not eat anything unusual.

its very nice dat u got rid of the stye,u cant find the things u r allergic to untill we get allergy ( with experience only we could know). once a person gets the allergy he has to suffer for a lot time untill the body produces certain antibodies to wards that allergic materia.

I'm actually allergic to most liquids that people use for washing dishes.
I discovered this when I started living with my now ex partner back in the UK a few years ago. I did dishes one day and my hands started itching and developed bright red blotches on them. then they started burning.
Now I have to be careful which liquid I buy for washing dishes, because there are only a couple that don't induce this reaction. An easier way would be to wear rubber gloves, but I hate the way they make my hands sweat when I use them.

I have also had a stye in my eye, and it was horrible. Now im more careful touching my eyes. Specially that my hands sweat a lot that when I touch my eyes it hurts because the sweat in my hands contains large amounts of salt in it that could irritate the eyes. And one of most amazing alergy that I have is my allergy to the sun.. I would get brown patches all over my body when I walk under the sun.. Its like the brown patches you would see on eggplants cut opened and left for a few minutes.. so now I more careful ...

I know exactly what you mean; I spent 17 years of my life getting shots for allergies and they never went away. Everytime I moved to a new State I would develop different allergies. The best thing is to try and figure out what you are allergic to and stay away from it. Easier said than done...

Every so often i develop a rash on my left hand in the same place. Im not really sure what causes this though. Good luck on finding what you're allergic to.
