I am 13 when I bought a manga for myself. It's title was "The Land of the Blindfolded". The story is wonderful and so is the characters. Being enthusiastic with it, I read it over and over again. After a month, I bought one again. I'm pretty addicted to it but my mom advised me to stop buying things like those because it really cost a lot of fortune. Manga here in the Philippines really cost a lot. So I'm reading manga ONLINE. I really loved manga.
I know reading it improved my skill in reading because I can view a single page (online) for almost five to ten seconds only.
When's your first time to read a manga? Have you brought one?

yep, very few in fact but yes; I've seen the anime of Berserk and it seemed like... like it has a big hole in the middle of it's face :P I really didn't understand the idea, I mean it was good but... something was wrong and then someone sowed me the manga :DDDDDDDD OMFG! that was absolutely awesome! so much that I'm still reading to this day (since it's actualñly still being written :P).
Well that was my first manga :) after that I've read "Mugen-no-Jyunin" (Blade of the Immortal) and two volumes of the Hellsing's manga but in that case happened the contrary as with Berserk, I liked more the anime... and the OVA 8)

I was 10 when I bought my first manga. It's title was Candy Candy. I bought Candy Candy tankoubon volume 10 (I just looked at the nice cover not the story). I still keep that book. It;s cost a lot to buy manga in Indonesia so I reading manga online or download manga scanlation from internet. Now I have about 100 title of manga scanlation. I love manga a lot.. ^_^

Try reading Penguin Kakumei/Penguin Revolution, it's by the same author. :) It's already been officially translated by CMX and it's so, so cute. The art has improved immensely and the characters are just adorable.
I'm from the Philippines, too, by the way, and I got mine from Powerbooks Megamall for around Php450.
