I have been watching some cooking shows on television and I am getting a little confused about salt... Table salt, Rock Salt, Sea Salt are they all the same or is some made for cooking with, Sea salt seems to be the popular one at the moment....

I always use sea salt. It has a nicer flavor than table salt because it doesn't have the tang of the iodine. It also has more natural minerals in it.

I was ready to reply with definitions of the various salts but I see someone else has already done that. They did a good job and I cannot add anything to their comment. I can say that seasalt has a better flavor. I also keep table salt on hand because idoine is something that we need in our bodies.

Some salt is made to cook with and some is made to melt ice. Table salt can be used in every day cooking. Rock salt is used to melt ice. Sea salt is used in making saltwater taffy I believe. I haven't tried to use sea salt myself in cooking. Have you?

Yes I am using sea salt at the moment only because I see the chef on TV using it all the time, I can't tell any difference.
