Maybe I can suggest that you use avira antivir personal classic edition. I have been using this software for almost two years ago. Since using it, I have never encountered any problems at all with regards to the overall function and system performance of my machine. Otherwise, I am so impressed and satisfied with its performance. It updates on a regular basis and it can be scheduled at your most convenient time or spare time. It is very light on resources and does not use a lot of memory. Hence, does not slow down your machine. It detects and deletes rootkits, worms, and viruses. This can be downloaded at their official website at www.free-av.com
Hope this would help.
Have a great day!

I use AVG anti virus. Plus just to be safe I also have two spyware killers, I use spybot and adaware. Between the three of them, I can usually keep my computer safe. You should have a good firewall too. Zonealarm is good to have.

I also think Norton and Macafee are the two best antivirus. Also, you should update the antivirus as far as possible as new virus comes everyday and they are updated. I think updating once in one week is good to keep the system free of virus. Some free softwares, movies, music etc also contains virus that can be downloaded freely. I would recommend you to keep the back up of all the data in a CD disk or in your mail, or in floppy disk or somewhere else.

Maybe you should try Avast. In my opinion the best AV and it's free for home users.

I'm using NOD32 but i like Panda Internet Security 2007 (Up to 3 PCs) New Platinum better and there is no such anti-virus that will get all the virus these days but Panda i pretty good with updating their virus database so you can feel safer and it doesn't use alot of ram space.

Here we used AVG for the extermination of the virus would and we continue to felt that AVG still that was best because previously we used norton but norton could not detect the "back's" virus "door Trojan" as far as us changed him with "Norman" but Norman could not detect the virus "BRontok" until we changed him with AVG and up to now us still used AVG.

Norton and Trend Micro's PCillin (spell check) are the 2 top rated anti-virus software. Norton and Zonealarm are the top 2 rated for firewall. McAfee is 2nd. McAfee came installed on my puter when I bought it but it let a lot of viruses slip by even when it was updated so I zilched it and now only have ZoneAlarm's free firewall installed on my puter. That with the monthly free scan I do at Trend Micro's website has kept my puter free from viruses and hackers. I also have spyware installed on my puter which I scan for once a month.
