Election is near again here in the Philippines, and there are so many candidates. How do you choose who to vote for especially on the top positions? Almost all of them does the same thing but they bad mouth each other to have a good image to the public. Do you go for the noisiest or the most silent of them? newcomer or existing public official?

Oh that is funny as our Elections are due in Australia again soon, oh lucky for us we do not have many candidates to choose from. Oh yes they always talk bad about the opposition but you have to listen to what they are going to do for you and whether you can trust the one that you will be voting for.

I don't think listening to candidates' promises here helps. they're just that, promises :) nothing gets done. all words, no action.you're lucky there being able to just listen and choose what you want to happen and vote for the guy that will grant your wishes :)

I'd rather go for the person who have proven a lot of things in this country and who are very much knowledgeable and savvy in the field of politics, public service and law-making and implementation. I don't go for the popular names of artists, sports celebrities, etc. I don't think they could thrive in the world of politics.

I agree! I don't go for politicians campaigning with fake smiles. It is obvious that they don't enjoy what they are doing and that they are only there to fulfill their ambitions and not to make this country a better one. I don't listen to promises. Most politicians who talk too much end their terms doing nothing. I go for those who "speak less but do more" type. I really can't understand why celebrities like Manny Pacquiao, Richard Gomez, etc. will enter politics. They can do more for the people in their fields, and they're better in their fields.. :(

i believe both of you there. i don't know why they always think they can do something better just because they have fans or followers. maybe they want more power and be able to do as they want.

As for me I wanted a politician that are more realistic in their platform. For example Escudero, he being saying alot of things against our government, but he never criticize the person. He is only opposing to the system that is being given to us. Another politician is Cayetano, he never stops in finding out the truth for his countrymen. He always stand to his words and works.

Good question...I'd say I never voted even once in my whole 35 years of life. It is because I am a chinese though born in the Philippines. I was never given that priviledge. In fact, I'm considered an alien here. Have to pay a certain fee for living here in the country where I was born. Ridiculous system, if you will ask me. The Philippine's politics are hot on getting the people's attention and with so many candidates, people will get confuse to choose which is the better one. I just dislike the idea of celebrities entering into politics.

I am also chinese born here, but didn't have that problem like yours, thankfully. how come you are an alien? were your parents not born here or didn't grow up here? my parents are also aliens but i think they do not have the same problem too. but they've been here too long, coz my grandparents brought them here still. i voted about once or twice only and i also didn't vote for celebrities. also don't like them having that much power just as i thought would happen to erap. it's not that he's not capable, but it's because his advisors can turn things around and let him think he's doing the right thing even though he's doing it wrong.
