Being an Air Traffic Controller is one tough job. You have be able to think clearly despite all the pressure and stress. You have to be precise and specific in all your instructions to aircraft. In our job, the main priority is the safety of the flying public. I worked as Radar Approach Controller. I'd say that it was just like playing a video game lining up all of the traffic for the approach. That is of course, when you get the feel of it. But the responsibilities are great. Imagine a collision of two 747's? You cannot just say, "well that's it.. game over you have just killed 600 passengers, pilots and crew members. My experiences so far are good. No loss of separation and no near misses. The fun part of it is the excitement. It always gets me excited to control aircraft movement. Anyway, I know that not all people know what our job is, but if you do or you are one, tell me what your experiences are.

Yeah, I agree with you. As they put it, a pilot is responsible for the passengers on board his aircraft, An Air Traffic Controller is responsible for all the aircraft in his airspace. Well what can I say, ATC is one hell of tough a job.. Cleared for take off baby...
