When i'm going to shop for things to stock at home, i prefer to do shopping in the supermarket. Especially my son, he always wanted to go with me to shop there. He enjoys choosing and getting stuff and put in the cart, he even ride on it. He really enjoys. But whenever we run out of something, for example toothpaste or shampoo. We usually go to small grocery nearby.

He pulls everything but i turned back those things that are not necessarily needed mostly if it not suits the budget.

For every day shoppings i prefer a supermarket...they're cheaper and they have a wider variety of products. But for certain buys, like delicatessen etc, i prefer a shop, where you get a more personalized attention etc.

It depends on what I need. Supermarkets offer a wide selection of goods and services which are usually quite good on price, however most supermarkets here are not particularly easy to get to unless you can drive as they are on their own out of town sites. I often use the small grocery shops, they too can offer some really good deals and often have promotions such as buy one get one free to try and compete with the larger stores. Small shops offer convenience, and convenience is something you will likely pay slightly more for, supermarkets offer selection and variety but i'd only use for the weekly shop.

For me, I would prefer big supermarkets that I know are still pricing their items fairly.
I like them for the variety of choices they offer. ;-)
