What emotions do different colors evoke?

I am looking to paint our bedrooms and don't know what color to use! What are some calming colors? Obviously red would not be very calming. I hate the color yellow. Our bedspread is handmade by my mother so I would like to keep that, it has shades of blue, cream, and gold in it. Thank you!

I love all shades of purple and I wanted to paint the bedroom that am gonna be sharing with my future hubby purple,lavender or lilac. Yeah, it's a little exotic but it still has a class on it. :)

I think that blue is quite a cold colour. Cream is nice and mixed with gold would be lovely. A bit of red here and there maybe a rug or some cushions would give it a more passionate atmosphere.
If you read Feng Shui the most calming colour for a bedroom is green, which you could mix with cream to match the bedspread.

My bedroom is painted lilac with some black and gold in the accessories. I find lilac and lavender to be very restful colours and would probably go very well with the bedspread. Blue is a little too cold a colour for a bedroom I think.
