What is priority? Start Discussions or respond to Discussions?

I have been trying to find out why so many people start discussions and it seems that is the way they make money. I beleive that if you contribute to Discussions that are good topics, they should make you money also.
I want to get good marks and sometimes best responses but only few are responding to the already created discussions.

First let me say welcome to mylot. It's a great place to be. My personal experience has led me to know that I seem to make more in responding to discussion threads that have been started by someone else. But, I only reply if the topic is of interest to me, I have something to add, and it is a discussion that doesn't break any of the myLot guidelines. I start very few discussions, usually 3-5 pre week, if that, and only then if I have a topic that hasn't already been posted, and is interesting to a majority. I wish you luck here at myLot. Happy posting.

Both should have priority as if every one is seeking for discussions and none is interested to start discussions then where you will get topics to respond to a discussions? Starting a discussions is also give you money.
