My partner and I like the house at a different temperature. I am always cold and he is always hot. I remember my grandmother and grandfather used to fit over the thermostat at night as well. She would turn it down and he would turn it up.
So I was wondering about everyone out there,
what is worse for you, being too hot in the summer, or too cold in the winter.
I know that I would rather be too hot than too cold because the cold just makes my bones aches and I am miserable all over.

I have a hard time regulating my body temp so it is difficult to set the room tempurature by me. So I set it at what my hun likes and then I have a few blankets around to keep me just right.

for me, being too hot in the summer is worse than too cold in the winter since you can just put on a lot of layers of clothing over you to keep warm! lol. well, the only thing you'd be doing in a hot summer would be opening the aircon to keep cool, but that would consume a lot of electricity, and if you can't do that, might as well stand in front of the electric fan the whole day and wear sleeveless clothes [or nothing at all! lol.]

I hear you, they are both awful being too hot or too cold but for me I get sick when I am cold so that is why that one is worse for me.

I am always hot and my husband is always cold. We settle it by having the thermostat set lower and he layers up on his clothes. After all, it's easier for him to layer up and be warm than for me to strip down and be cool. We also sleep with seperate blankets. He uses really heavy ones, and I have a nice quilt that is always cool to touch to sleep with. There are times when I get really cold, though those are far and few between.

Lately my husband has been so warm I can see the beads of water on his forehead and he can do this sitting wearing hardly anything, and here I am with my big fluffy blanket. The winters are cold in Saskatchewan Canada and lately our thermostate has been set at 20 that's not warm enough for me and I don't know what's causeing him to be this way ???

Myself and my partner argue over this all the time lol. He suffers from his hands being cold a lot, and I'm the same but with my feet.
he likes me to turn the heat down at night - but he hates hearing me whine about having cold feet, so I stopped whining and found myself a new foot warmer - his bare legs in bed :P
He works during the day and so it's nice that I can have the thermostat set to where I like it, but the first thing he does when he gets in from work is lower it a bit, and then he lowers it a bit more before he goes to bed. If I turn it back up, he knows because he's unable to sleep properly.
I too would rather be too hot than too cold, but I guess for my partner it's the opposite. they say opposites attract lol, but I don't think they had this in mind when that saying was first made.

Opposites also repel when you are too different, so it does depend on which theory you believe. But I see you found a wonderful solution, kudos to you girlfriend

That's a tough one. I hate the heat, and don't care for the cold either. I have fibromyalgia. Like many "fibros" I don't tollerate the heat well, and seem to have trouble breathing the blast furnace that is Texas in the summer air. On the other hand, since it seems my fibro started by an injury, and like many injury related problems, I have trouble dealing with the cold aches and pains. I nice, sunny 60's is about what I would prefer. I find 70 in the house cold, 80 hot.... but I try to keep an eye on it because of the cost.

i really cant stand being hot, i hate it during summers when you get all stuffy and sweaty. I always turn the AC on full during the summer nights.
I have no problems with it being cold! infact i really love winter time! you dont have to worry about being all sweaty or dehydrating from being in the sun too long! no heat strokes to worry about!!
Winter is the best!!

I don't like cold but I always prefer the temperature in the house to be a bit more on the cool side. Specially during the winter when the heater is on and the air dries up a lot. It is a problem for me because I breathe through my mouth and my throat dries too much.
If it's cold I can always wear a sweater or add a blanket, however when it's too hot, there really isn't much i can do.

I like not so cold and not so hot. But I prefer hot, because we can swimming and refresh our body, and we can use aircondition. I dont like cold because We cant make many things, we dont have will to make anything, no movement. Only stay in a sofa watching TV.

hot climates also have their own diseases and bacteria, bugs, mosquitoes, flies etc, so don't let that stop you if you prefer to live in a colder climate.

I am the opposite of you. I am always hot. I run around in shorts and a tank top while my husband is freezing. It drives him nuts that I like it cold. Our house is naturally pretty cool anyway because we only have a wall heater. I love for it to be cold outside of the blankets and to be snuggled up with my husband under a big fluffy blanket or heavy quilt.

well i see it a little bit differently
it was proven that i prefer the hot seasons and summer when i am thin there is less body weight to carry and it is fun going to the beach
when i am fat i prefer winter- to stay at bed to see friends drink hot coco and watch movies it is fun
i guess every season is fun
i personally find it usually depands on how much mess i am carrying

Wow this is a funny discussion! I am always cold when others are hot. It is really very annoying. I need hot water bottles all the time in winter and get really cold when I go into shops with air conditioning in America.
It is miserable being cold.

Hi winterose.
My husband and I have different body temperature he is the hot one and I'm less hotter than him. In my country where there is no winter season we only have rainy and summer and if it is summer wheeww! my husband do really want to take shower at least 3 or more a day.
I on the other hand is just fair and I'm not feeling so hot when summer because I really sit near an electric fan or air conditioner lol!

I am always absolutely freezing. Even when my husband agrees to put it warmer in the house I have on sweats and I have a blanket on me. I sleep with 2 blankets too. I just can't get warm. I need to move to a warm climate. :)

I and my hubby also face this problem. But if we are cold- then we can still lead our lives almost normally by being in warm clothes and other accessories. But a person who is feeling hot has to be in a cooler environment.
also, if we be understanding, then sometimes even your hubby will consider the temperature dilema

I also agree with you that I'd rather feel hot in the summer than cold during rainy days (unfortunately, we don't have snow here in our country). It's harder for me to adapt in a cold environment and you have to wear thick clothes or sometimes layers of clothes in order to feel warm unlike when it's hot, you just have to wear something sleeveless or clothes with thinner material which are more comfortable compared to wearing layers of clothes. And I also love taking showers so feeling hot is not that much of a problem for me.
