Are you using your myLot time wisely?

I started on myLot and sat here for a few days and posted and responded and posted more and responded more. It's a lot of fun, but I do have to take time to do my other tasks.
I plan my time on myLot. A specific amount of time each day to responding to friends, a specific amount of time to respond to new discussions from other members and I also plan my discussions.
As I am doing other things, working for clients, going for a walk, what ever it is that I am doing I take time to right down things that I think will make a good discussion and that allows me to be on myLot the least amount of time.
What do you do to make your time on myLot most efficient?

I really admire your organizational skills and your ability to stick to your plan. I said that I was gong to post here for 1 hour this morning and then get going on some housework, and 3 hours later I am still here! I get caught up following links, reading discussions and posts, and posting myself. I really do need to stick with a plan, and I am going to force myself to start limiting my time here. I plan to try to do what you do; I'll set a certain amount of time to respond to my Friends, a certain amount for new discussions, and a time to followup on my own discussions. The key will be to set the limits and actually stick with them, but I am going to try.

I try to keep organized but it doesn't always work and then I have to play catch up. But I do my best.
It was funny that when I joined my clients were really quite and it gave me a lot of time to just sit and talk, so I had a good chance to get things started but in the past week I have been swamped by client work and haven't spent much time on myLot.
I must say that my clients pay me a lot more for the time I spend with them that myLot does, so I have to keep them first. :)

Well I have given 3hrs to mylot only because my target is 50posts everyday and may be one discussion a day, at times even no discussion I start.Regarding starting a discussion I also do write down as and when a topic comes in my mind to save it for posting.

50 posts in 3 hours, you are a very prolific poster. I never managed to post 50 posts a day, not even on the weekends. My goal is still very humble, just 10 posts a day, on average. I cannot do more than this for now due to my other commitments.

spiderman05, 10 posts per day is already okey. atleast for starters and busy people.
like me, i am not working for now so, i can post even up to 100 ( i even did 150 twice ) per day. depends on my mood. but mostly, i only do 50 posts in 2 or 3 hours.
i don't usually start my own discussion unless i really have an interesting thing to say. i don't want to start a nonesense discussion just to have a discussion on my own that day. and just like you, sunita, i do list some of my ideas on my pad, too so i won't forget them.

I admire your self-discipline and organizational skills. I find that I'm terribly disorganized when it comes to mylot. As a result, I will often find that I've fallen far short of my daily posting goals. This lack of posts is the direct cause of the lack of earnings that I've experienced this month.
I think I will sit down and do as you have done: prepare a mylot schedule and stick to it!

I do have to place a time limit here. I first answer the posts by my friends, then I go over to today's hot topices, then to today's top discussions. If I still have time, I look in my interest folder for topics to respond to.

i try to organise my mylot time..firstly i rate all the responses to my discussions..then i go and post a couple of discussions..i don't do as many as i used too..and then i start responding to friend's discussions..also maybe dig out a few 0 response discussions so that they can get paid..after finding so many o discussions in my unresolved section..i was mortified..so i thought every day i would dig out a few to help my fellow mylotters..as a lot of thos discussions are good and interesting..only they have been unlucky not to get responses..i also multitask while doing mylot..i am learninga chinese song..i have my earphones on..so i can do at least two things at once..

i try to have a time frame on everything in mylot, too. like 30 minutes to comment and responses i get from people to my discussions, read the responses and rate them. i also try to put another 30 minutes to read the comments people gave me on some responses i posted on others' discussions. then an hour for my friends' dicussions. another hour for today's top discussions. but most of the time, i get hooked on today's top discussions that i get to spend more than 2 or 3 hours there.
well, there are time when i break my time scheme. but that's life. there are things we can't always put on plan.

I use my time well with mylot. Because time is again precious. I have time allocated for everything and the time allocated for internet accessing would include mylot. I chat with my friends and in the break i respond to the discussions on mylot.

With apologies to Forrest Gump, I think mylotting is like a box of chocolates, you'll never know what you're gonna get. I planned to do a quick 10 after logging in but there are days that it's just impossible. I couldn't find a post I feel I could comfortably respond to. So I just log out and find more convenient time later in the aftenoon or early evening Yes, I do plan my time in mylot and I keep on making adjustments depending on how it goes. Cheers.

Wow-- you are a great planner.. I bet you even budget?? it's great--
I pop on-- check out my friends discussions, pop on new discussions, look at top discussions.. try to find 20 or so that interest me- and then respond. I think I'd get more done here if I had a plan like you do-
I'm going to think of one and try it tomorrow! Everyday is different though for me in time I have to spend here on mylot. I had an extra hour today so I may answer more than normal.

Ha, budget, not me, my wife does that task. I always want to buy the best of anything, yet my wife will take the time to find the bargain instead and she saves us money. I would keep us pretty much broke most of the time but we would have the best of everything. :)

When I first started on mylot I was really addicted to it. Spending about a couple of hours reading, replying and posting. Now I realized that I do have a life and I cannot spend all my "free time" just with mylot. Now I try my best to delegate my time productively. I just spend about an hour or less now on mylot these days.

I do not have time everyday to post at mylot. I only get access to internet during the night as it is cheaper and at that time I get to use mylot. But I have to get some sleep too and it's hard to manage time for mylot. I generally get to post at mylot when I have a holiday the next day. Other than that posting at mylot takes a lot of time and it is hard for me to get some hours of my life everyday for mylot.

I guess you are really organized person. I wish I would be the same way...Give me some major advise how to be successful at my lot please. Today is my first day, and I don't really know how to start.
O, by the way, I am an artist and my major interest in web is to show my paintings to people...Any ideas about that?

I am not as organise as you are about using my Mylot time.
Sometime I can use my time in Mylot very effectively and sometime it is worst. But I try to come to Mylot everyday, may be sometime it is for 10 or 15 minutes.
Usually I don't split my time for different work. Whenever and whatever convinient for me I do them according to that.
But I hope to be little more organised.

I budget my MyLot time as well, since I have other online jobs that I do. I do my primary job (which only takes me about 20 minutes) in the morning. Then I do MyLot for about an hour in the afternoon when my son naps. When he goes to bed, I start on my third online job.
Budgeting time is crucial because in order to make money effectively, you need to give each task its due time.

I was actually thinking about this today. Assuming that the goal of most users here is to maximize the product quality*post_count (that is to maximize the number of messages posted in a single day as well as the quality of these posts), I think that a good strategy would be to connect many times a day and check if there are interesting posts that deserve to be replied to. I think that connecting a few times and staying online for long periods of time, say more than an hour is counter productive as good discussions and posts are not published at a high rate.
This means that, if you stay connected for a long time, it is very likely that you will spend most of your time browsing and filtering out spam, instead of posting.
