Mardi Gras is upon us! Others call it Fat Tuesday. In celebration, I'm going out to lunch today and maybe go skiing if I have time.
Do you have any Mardi Gras celebration traditions?
Is anyone going to give anything up for Lent?
Personally, I may give up meat (which is the traditional thing to do) but more than likely, I won't end up *really* giving anything up.

Well in France, Mardi Gras doesn't represent much religion-wise anymore (very few people give up some kind of comfort food) but it means one thing to all the students: dress-up day. Everyone dresses up for Mardi Gras, and people can finally come up with interesting ideas. I've seen the Addams family once at my school or the usual boy/girl costume, batman, business man...

That's a great tradition. I'm a big fan of Halloween here in the States, where people dress up and go around house to house and collect candy. In Germany, where my mother is from, they celebrate Fasching, where people also dress up in crazy colorful clothes.
