I just saw the Al Gore movie "an Inconvenient Truth" and wow did my eyes pop open. This planet is in some serious need of attention, and we as a people need to step up and realize that the truth hurts and something must be done. If you have not seen the movie, go spend $4 and rent it, you might learn something and start changing some things in your life to help the environment. This planet is changing rapidly by mother nature, and the effects of CO2 ( carbon dioxide) our big chemical plants are emitting into our atmosphere. Take a look at recent catastrophic events like hurrican katrina here in the U.S. and all the other major world events. Let's save our earth for generations to come. As of now this planet can be doomed for major change in less than 50 years, will you stand by and watch your demise?

Have you read any of the other discussions here on mylot that critique and largly discredit many supposed facts in this movie?
By jumping on the global warming bandwagon without understanding the counterarguments and understanding the disastrous effects that going along with the Kyoto Treaty would have on our great nation, we head down a path that could seriously hurt our economy and delay our development of energy replacements for fossil fuels.

Hey aiguy01, I have read more now that I've seen the movie and of course with any topic of debate you will get both sides of the arguement. What side are you in favor of? I'm more curious to see if other people feel as i do about it, sort of handicapped in that do we really have as much of a say for what's in store for this planet as we should. Sure you can make efforts to recycle and use energy efficient appliances at home, but is that enough? Also, do most people just turn their head and say well I can't help the environment, the issue is way above me and I have no voice, so whatever is going to happen to the world will happen regardless if I change or not.

I haven't seen this movie but would like to. I agree with you that people are not doing enough. Have a look at my Global warming discussion in my profile where I mainly talk about vehicle's emitions. There are a few ideas about global warming there.
I don't think people will be bothered with global warming until it slaps them in their face.

i think global warming is inconvinient for industrial capitalism and therefore will be ignored by those in power. It is dangerous it represents the biggest threat to civilisation on earth i think we have ever faced

I doubt anyone cares about global warming. As long as life is still going on, nobody would care. Unless, it is important to them or something.....
