Has ANTM gone too far?

I love America's Next Top Model, but I think that at times they push the girls too hard. Having them in a freezing pool proved to be one of these times. CarieDee practically got hypothermia from it!
If this is the way the real modeling world is, they ALL need to tone it down. Pretty pictures aren't worth putting people in danger.
What do you think? Do they go too far on the show? Do their stunts make for more excitement? Would toning down the challenges hurt the show's ratings?

I agree that this is going to far but I can see why Tyra does it because she wants to see if they can make it in the world of modeling. The industry does even crazier things than having them stand in a freezing pool. I have seen them go to ALaska and be in bathing suits. I don't agree with this but if these girls are going to make it in the business they need to experience it first hand and make that decision.

Those situations actually happens in the modelling world, I saw on fashion tv once that they did a fashion show where the models wore a bikini during winter. That's how fashion works. Toning down the challanges will not prepare the contestants for the real modelling world.

I think that cold water thing was ridiculous! are you telling me that real models pose in a freezing pool? Are you saying they couldn't heat it to like at least 60 degrees? I think they do that for the shock factor and I do not believe real models do that.
I agree pictures aren't worth the danger, but thinking back that's the only time on the show I remember them going to dangerous limits. Most the time it's more of a moral limit (ie getting naked) which is of course the girls choice. I do think their crazy and odd challenges make the show exciting (like the one where they posed on an elephant) however the freezing water was a step too far and I was ticked during that whole episode. If they would have warmed the water to a reasonable temp, I would have enjoyed the episode much more.

I think that that's most definitely how the modelling world really is and the show is only doing it's job of trying to weed out the girls that won't make it in the real business. And afterall, nobody's forcing these girls to do things like getting in a freezing cold pool. I also think that the girls provide enough drama on their own without the show having to worry about other ways to get ratings :)
