Hey,
I've been thinking about getting back into healthy excerise. such as jogging, i haven't done this since training days a young footballer and i used to find it hard to keep up doing it as i always enjoyed walking more.
Do you job? how often do you do this?
~Joey
P.s I don't often run much, unless it's for a tram or bus etc! (sometimes on part) advice is very much appreciated as any responses.

I think jogging is the best way to stay in shape. When walking, I usually don't feel the burn that much. When running, I get worn out breathing wise way before I've felt any real effect physically. So I enjoy jogging when on the treadmill, jogging in place, or just jogging around the house whenever I have to go to another room :) I think the reason it works so well is because it is more intense than walking, but you don't run out of breathe while doing it.
I suggest starting on a treadmill until you get your endurance up. It's easier to jog/run on a treadmill for some reason (maybe because the treadmill works with you a little bit). Once you can do 15-20 mins on the treadmill, it's time to hit the pavement! Find a path that doesn't have a lot of cross walks because you don't want to be thrown off rhythm too much. I know when I get interrupted I lose my motivation quickly!
Eventually, as you get really into it, you can start going to hilly places for more of a challenge. Good luck!!

Hey vivasuzi,
Thank you for great advice!
I haven't used a treadmill for sometime, but i will be looking for one. my parents own a few excerise machines, although there only a rowing and the bike.
Again i really appreciate the tips here.
~Joey
P.s i'm lucky to live on a close where it's ideal to run around as i used to do in my younger teen years. (at least 6 roads which link back up with the other side of the close)
Kudos!

Sounds like you got a nice set up for running. We have some paths around here, but you have to drive to get to them... and most the time I'm too lazy for that :) But the treadmill is a great way to start. Plus, if you have a treadmill, there's no saying "I can't jog b/c it's raining" or any other excuses :) Good luck!

Jogging is the best way for me to stay fit and in shape, I have also lost the routine of jogging due to my job and work later in the night for some part-time jobs, but now i am planning to go for a jog and reduce the stress, I feel one should have a sound sleep for a energetic day ahead, thats why i keeps on skipping jogging, but now i am also thinking to het that habit started again.

Yeah, jogging, or even brisk walking is the best form of exercise anybody can have. You need to be regular in it. It is better if you can do it half an hour in the morning and evening. If only once a day, an hour will do good. Morning is the best.

I have thought about jogging...but I don't really like running. I am more of a fast walker. We walk everywhere because we don't have a vehicle...so that is okay. I also was doing aeorobics, pilates and light weights which I want to get back into...after all summer is coming....eeekk...

I've been a runner/racer for more than 20 years but don't do it as much as I used to; I've put on weight and it's harder on my knees.
I've always enjoyed walking and do that a lot. At my gym there are cardio machines like ellipticals, which have a motion that kind of combines running, stepping, and cycling. It's a good workout and doesn't involve any impact.
I also have a rowing machine at home that I use; it's great because you can get a workout while watching TV.

I am not a jogger. I prefer walking. But I agree jogging is also very good for health & it keeps a person fit. Actually my boyfriend goes on jogging for 30 minutes early in the morning & he is fit. Not only he, his dad also goes on jogging & he looks so young as well as fit. So jogging really works & its really a healthy exercise.

i am a regular jogger, i do it every morning before my workout and have found it to be a great cardio plus warm up excercise! it really helps to keep you good shape and is also very beneficial for your heart!
It also helps in keeping off those extra few pounds that we usually pick up by eating fatty stuff!

Joey, i just recently started a exercise habit for myself. I am doing the pilates workout of the mornings and walking in the afternoon. Im not overweight i just want to tone up, im a little wiggly hahaha. But jogging is good however i cant handle it because i have asthma. I just thought i would let you know that it may seem pilates are just for women but i find them to be very strethening and i think men should give them a try.

I;ve been an athlete most of mt life and still am. However, jogging and running have fallen to the unfortunate way side. I actually had to quit playing rugby because of my knees. It's very hard for me to run. I can take the dogs for about 1-2 miles every day, but that's my max. I'll never do competitive long distance running again.
however, I found my alternative that I LOVE and it doesn't hurt my knees OR require a gym membership. I CYCLE! I love long distance biking.. it's a great workout, keeps me slim, and I can ride for miles and for hours! I love my long weekend rides and can't wait for the snow to melt!
My advice to someone who USED to workout a lot and is looking to get back into running, is to start slow. Don't go out your first time hoping to put in 5 miles... you'll get discouraged. Just get out and go, go as far and your body will let you, and when it's done, go home. Stretch and be done with it. You'll get better the more you do it, but don't set expectations so high that you set yourself up for failure.
have fun!

Hi Joey, I can't say that I am a jogger as would probably get black eyes from it lol but I do like swimming and walking! There's alot of joggers where I live as they all participate in the Great Western Run in July time, but sadly I don't have the stamina!

I used to go out jogging when I was a teenager with my parents and brother, we would go out everyday and run 3 miles.
Then I grew up and became independant had a family of my own and it stopped. I did enjoy it very much, when I used to do it.
These days I go swimming twice a week with my mum, to help get me feeling a bit fitter.

Well ive recently started jogging again. I need to do it because im sitting on my ar*e 9 hours everyday at the office. My boyfriend and i go jogging together on the beach. We jog three days a week for an hour but we generally do it in the evenings because neither of us are early risers. The other 3 days I do light weights and one day I just relax.
Maybe you should try brisk walking for around half an hour before you actually start jogging and dont forget to warm up before running.

I prefer walking and the health benifits are greater (walking is easier on your joints). I go out of my way to walk as much as possible and then set goals for myself such as a marathon. Hook up with others doing the same and you've got built in support.

I'm an active footballer, but I really don't like jogging. It is better then to get in shape by playing football. Of course it is hard to stay in shape during the winter here in norway, but then you can always put your skis on and go for a cross country skiing trip. That is definitely good exercise!
