How stupid is it to get a couple tickets and then they take you to jail to pay them off and then charge you a fee when you get out. What did he go to jail for then if they want him to pay after he's out.
What are the laws where you live? I live in a really small town.

Oh, Sassy, What a shame! I have never had a traffic ticket, but I have had a speeding ticket and paid it right away. I have often wondered how people in jail are supposed to pay money when they aren't earning any...it doesn't make good sense. At the same time I think that when someone isn't paying their child support they belong in jail - but how are they supposed to pay child support? In my opinion, if they haven't paid any for 6 months to a year, they aren't going to, so throw them in jail....but a traffic ticket?~Donna

its just dumb. my husband got a ticket and they took him to jail for two days, gave him court, then let him out with a $765 fine and work release

Yes I have heard of them doing it here if you forget to pay your tickets and then of course you have to pay for being in jail. Nothing is for free anymore.

My x is always doing this and it is rediculous. It's one of the reasons he lost overnight visits with the children. Because I did not want to be woken up in the middle of the night and told to pick my kids up at the police station for something as stupid as a traffic ticket.

Hi, the laws are pretty similar in the UK, although I'm not sure whether they charge you a fee when you get out (Not ever being to prison myself lol) Although our prison system is now getting clogged up and I believe the judges have been told to only send the most violent/dangerous criminals to prison!

Ha? what kind of law is that? If you get jail, why must you pay the fee again after you got out? That's riddiculus. How come a couple of tickets makes you suffer from jail? I don't think it is the best way to give the convicted a lesson to learn.
Here at my town we won't get jail for a couple of tickets. Come on there are a lot of people who have more than 10 tickets, catch that one fist, for sure this kind of offender deserve jail rather than 2/3 tickets holder.
Where do you live actually in Italy? I have a few friends in Italy, mainly in Milano.
