I read this book for an introductory literature course, and it was by far my favorite that we read in that class. I loved how the story was about different people and spread out in different times. I am curious about Roy- if she wrote anything else I would like.

I tried reading it on recommendation from my friend but I found its stat to boring but over the years I have found too many people praisig it. I think I will look for it next time I go to the library. What exactly did you like about this book. I remember at that age I couldn't make any sense out of it.

I love this book. And I love the ending, too. Unlike most books, it doesn't go the easy way and have an ending where all loose ends are tied up and all problems are resolved. With this novel, we're presented with a devastating outcome where things don't go back to normal and changes can never be undone. But the book is really poetic in expressing the message that sometimes, even in the darkest hours, we can find solace, even love, in strangers. And most importantly, that life goes on. For better or worse.

the ending was great.. very unconventional.. got to give props to arundhati roy for making this book. i'm not really into books and i barely read one. but this one made me stick to it. definitely the best book. it will be hard for another book to surpass it. i just love how roy made the book. very detailed and meticulously done. i love it! trivia: base from roy's own biography, she had the same story as the main character in her novel

I read this during high school since it was one of the books we were required to read for our literature class. I remember that i liked it but I don't remember the specific reason for liking the book. I guess I should try reading it again.
