The Stars Effects..

Now, I don't want to put this as a rant. I will try my best to be more calm and understanding, since as you know just today, my star went down from blue to red. You know what? I've been rating people all the time, and I always rate them (+). If I have some respondents who I cannot understand what they are trying to converse, I leave them be and move on. But how cruel membere are here, do they understand the relevance of a good discussion? How does star ratings affects us, whether it goes down or up? Do you pay too much attention on your reputations? Please do give some of your thoughts.. I won't say anymore for now, I'm starting to get furious at this time!;)

Dear raijin first of all it's really sad to hear that you've went down from star number ten to number nine. I really don't know how does star ratings affect us but I do know one thing and that is there is some glitch nowadays with myLot reputation system and for the conformation of this thing I was wondering since two days myLot last night has sended me an alert on which it is clearly written that 'MyLot is having some problem nowadays regarding myLot reputation star, and the glitch will be resolve in your today's update' Hopefully, it is a glitch happened with you or something like that. I personally ever give you a postivie (+) ratings whether I like your answer or not but most of the time you write a quality answer :) I never gave a (-) rating to anyone here in myLot. So, anyways, you do not worry it will be a glitch and hopefully it will be fixed soon!

Since the reputations star rating feature been introduce I know that for those were in higher ranking like.."8","9" and "10" will be under some pressure if they do care very much on their reputations. I do came across few discussions that were actually express their disappointments on their reputations dropping in which they believed were due to some sabortage.I think the chances for the ratins to stay unchange was quite impposible as it was award based on the average ratio..Anyway I hope this kind of problems willbe rectify by mylot soon especially those misused of the "Negative" Ratings. It will be better if those "Negative" ratings were ask to given a good reasons just like the "Abuse" reports!I hope you wouldn't be too much affected by the reputations stat as am sure you will re-gain the perfect "10" very soon:)

I just hope that they make improvements by giving ratings to others, in reaaly being abused by others maliciously.

I only give "-" ratings to people when I don't think they tried at all to respond. Like if the response has nothing to do with my question or is obviously a cheater. I don't get how it works either. I have a 10 but started at like an 8. I don't think it has everything to do with sabatoge though, because I think they said the rating has more factors to it than just "-" and "+" ratings. I think it also calculates activity and other factors but I'm not sure how it works!

Can this have something to do with your new avatar?? just kidding lol. take it easy, I'm sure you will be back to 10 in a day or two, I saw this happening with other friends here, you post something that a few people don't like and they act like children giving you - to show their disagreement while it only should be used to judge the "quality" of the post not it's contents or views, anyway I always appreciate your discussions and responses and they never deserve a - so I'm confident you will move up again very soon.. PS. your new avatar is lovely :)

LoL Thanks for the boost!;) I guess I'm a victim of some sort here, but it's okay. I know my friends are not the ones who's done this to me, but I don't mind them anymore. I have to work and make myself up again, atleast I have a good reason now to work harder!;) I'm also trying to upgrade my profile, for a change!;)

We're the same. As I opened my account in mylot today, I found out that my rating had decreased from 8 to 7. Somebody had rated me negative. I really don't know why. I don't remember giving any bad remarks or objectionable responses. I'm just shock and stunned when I found out because honestly, on my case, I always rate positive all responses and discussions which I think contain some logical points and sense and if there are some who are unlikable and disagreeable, I just left it and don't put any marks as "-".

That's a good way to deal with it, and atleast we are mostly fair when in terms of giving some ratings. But I do give negative who responds with one-liners, and those I do not know desease that others here don't understand it's true meaning.. I hope you too do come back to your normal rating or even more, move up higher!;)

Hi, raijin! Keep cool. This community is great, blue stars, red star, yellow, white, or no stars! Don't let your happiness - and sense of self-worth - depend on the opinions of other people. Here, especially, you never know what motivations people have in rating others. Whatever, I think the good still outnumber the bad in MyLot. At least, I hope so. cheers, friend!

So far, my star has not gone down, but that does not mean that that will not happen. I do not pay much attention, as I cannot see the stars if I work through my e-mail inbox most of the time. I do not know for sure if the color of your star affects what you get paid. Perhaps we should ask myLot for clarification.

I'm just saddened by the moment it ocuured to me, after all the hard work I've done then is where I ended up. My reputation is more important for me than my earnings, I think reputation helped me alot in drawing some respondents.

i understand your feelings since i experince that too when my percentage drop by one nutch but instead of ranting i choose to be calm and stay true with all of my response even i diagree with the discussion. then after a couple of days it increase by two. that is the sad thing about that ratings since not all people here will agree with each other even you give your best to answer the discussion as honest as you can be. since that rating can be bias, for me the best thing for mylot to do is eliminate the negative sign and just leave the exclamation and postive sign. where we can just report abuse to the admin and rate the response if we like it,and if we dont we can all just leave it behind left him with his opinions.

but the thing is even how many guidelines mylot puts just to guide us on how we should rate, people may forget that and still follow there feelings. just because someone disagree with them even if its a good response they will still give negative sign. for me the negative sign and the exclamation is just the same. if we think some users are spamming or give irrelevant response,we can just report them directly to mylot by using the exclamation sign and let mylot do the job whether to decrease or increase their rating. anyways, its jsut a suggestion.

I'm not complaining, in fact I'm quite sad for those other members who also suffered from their dropping of ratings. I don't think that mylot would remove the ratings, I think it helps them in distinguish who is who and which is which. It's the members here who abuses the ratings that are at fault, to which I think mylot should just upgrade their guidelines in giving negative responses to others. It's really hard to work back up, but it's easy for our reputations to go down.

I almost didn't recognize you..I like your new avitar. By now I know you've seen the alert and been told about it. So all I can say is...I feel your pain...lol I too was a shiny blue 10 and fell to a red 9. I went back up the next day and a week later I was back to a 9. I was so sad at first but now I really don't care quite as much as it seems to happen to almost everyone..oh well I guess we all just have to try harder...I hope you get back up there soon. (and me too)

I changed my avatar because I got furious then.. LoL Thanks mari (mara-as your macaw call you so)..=)

I too went from a 10 to a 9... I know mine is because of negative ratings-- I answered a few discussions where I didn't agree with the poster... I was respectful to the poster but voiced my opinion. I won't change the way I act or what I believe in because some people rate me negatively. They are the wrong ones.. How many times do we hear don't rate negative because the person doesn't share your opinions only when they break the Mylot rules. I keep waiting for my star to change again-- Back to a 10... Everyday I look! So yes it matters to me... But hey I'm not perfect in real life either-- : ) Good question! You get a + from me!

Thanks for putting up a good complement!;) It seems that getting negatively rated by others effects faster, than those rating us positively. Imagine that for just a day, our reputaions would drastically slump down. I sometimes feel that I get an unfair judgment, because I do give positive ratings for others while I don't think what I could get.. I hope we do come back to what we were supposed to be!;)

Raijin, I understand your frustration. When the star ratings first came out, I was at a nine and went up to a ten, the best rating, by the second day. I stayed on a ten for a long, long time, until suddenly I guess that someone on the site decided to target me and I dropped down to an eight overnight. Then a seven, and even a six. I just couldn't get my rating back up past seven for quite awhile. Now I'm stuck on eight, the yellow colored star, and I've been at eight for days and days and it just doesn't seem like I can do anything to get back on track, even though I post thoughtful replies and reply to at least 30-60 topics per day. I feel that if the ratings can drop two points overnight, it's only fair that they should be able to raise back up that fast, but it sure isn't working out that way for me. I despair of ever getting back up to a red or blue star, a 9 or a 10. I don't know exactly how our star rating affects us, but I heard that someone asked Mylot and someone from Mylot said that it affects our earnings somehow, which I had suspected. That's what upsets me the most about losing some of my rating.

I know your previous ratings shywolf, I always come across to some of your responses and posts. It really is gonna be hard for us to work our way back on top, the negative effect is really instant. But it's hard to fight back positively, it's hard to earn positive ratings from others.. Well I hope that we both do come back where we were supposed to be!;)

raijin, I think just let it go, don't watch too much at the rate star, may be it will better if you watch your earning, it is more have a benefit for us in the reallife, if you only have a 1 star but you got 50 $ a month that will be better than you get a 10 Star but only get 5$ a month, just a little opinion raijin, you allready do great I think, you posts 896 until now, if you're not working hard for that I'm pretty sure you allready leave mylot arround 200 posts, keep fighting.

i understand how you are feeling. It feels good when we add ratings but then its sad to have it lowered. But don't feel bad. We are people here with different opinions. So we have to accept it wether it is positive or negative. I know that is sad and hurting to the ego but cheer up and understand people around. Strive more and i know you can have that rating again. Feels good with your discussion coz ur giving your best.

Don't worry, this is not just about me but for all those who fell prey to all those "negative trigger-happy" button pushing members. It is really hard for us to work our way up. Then for just a span of just a day, our ratings would plunge down drastically.

The reputation/star rating works on a scale of 0 to 100, so actually you may not that many ranking points (or whatever they're called). You can have a 10 ranking with 96 or 95 to 100, but if your reputation falls one point to 94, your reputation falls to 9. But some more plus ratings can get you back up to 10. So it doesn't mean your ranking has necessarily fallen a lot. You make good comments and discussions; just keep posting and your ranking may go up to 10 again. Hang in there.

I just rated your discussion with a plus. Maybe you posted bad responses. You must've done something wrong. There is no logic in your rating getting down from doing nothing... well, maybe there is. Have you been active the past few days? I don't know. I'm not sure of the system, but I think that myLot has it's reasons (if it wasn't the users). If the people rated you with a negative, then you can't say anything. That's their oppinion.

Glad to lend you a hand. The stars are what affects your reputation here on mylot, it may go up or down depending on your responses and if people would give you ratings. Ratings are made through positive(+) and negative(-), to which is located near on response boxes on the right side. 10 is the most highst star reputation you can get and 1 is the least reputation, a star can be attained when we reached 100 posts. You can see your number of post beside your username, those enclosed in a parenthesis. I hope this would help you understand what the stars are for.
