Does the STAR RATING SYSTEM hold the key to your HAPPINESS at myLot??

I have noticed so many discussions on people upset at how their star rating system has gone down. Does that mean that we are affected by the system that myLot has put into place. Myself, I don't believe the rating system, I have alot of friends that have quality discussions and their numbers are quite low and I have seen some discussions where the number was high and yet the discussions were meaningless and pointless. So are we affected by the rating system to our happiness on myLot or are you totally unaffected by this system?

I personally could care less.... i just don't care. I know that I write quality VS Quantity, and that's how it's going to stay... Okay so i might irritate people sometimes with some of my posts, but it's always about something i care about or am quite interested in. And when i give a response, it's because i have an opinion on the matter. I have never written a one liner response, and i 9 times out of 10 follow the guidelines. So it just means there's irate people out there, and i don't care. I've seen like you have. the ones with the better posts usually having a relatively low number, and the ones with crappy posts that shouldn't be allowed on here if that's all they care about, obviously money, yet they get the nice sacks of points.
Their probably the ones giving the lengthly posters negatives in all actuality...
Anyways, Hey, that's life right? Some people take it as like "I'm a bad person" Or "No one likes me" or "i'm not popular"
But i'm happy reading interesting, mind catching discussions. WOO haha, Anything that keeps my mind working.
Take care
Ash

A person on my friends list shared with me that she'd come across people on myLot who actually give negative ratings for long responses (no matter how good) because it "takes too much time" to read 150 words, or whatever a quality response might take.
I guess different people are here for different reasons. I tend to just responses however they flow from my thoughts, and usually they end up being on the long side. I am not going to change who I am just so I can become more "popular."

Yeah I'm not going to do something for everyone else to make myself any more popular either, I'm gonna be myself, and if people don't like that they can lump it haha, though as it seems i have quite a few friends, and that's after weeding through them. :D
And Texas, Your a sweetheart. Keep it up.

I think i would be dissapointed if my star rating went down. To me it represents how other MyLotters feel about you and if you have a high rating it feels pretty nice. Almost as if you are respected.

I hear ya ... although you have a great rating on here, I just liked it better when we were not rated and only based our discussions on our number, thanks for sharing

You feel like you are being graded, I notice that when I made a mistake with mouse and touch the star my ratings said 79/100 my lot reputation. I feel kind of bad because I want to be 10 like everybody else I am not going to worry about it. long as it doesen't affect my money. I notice some of the top reffers have a nine so I don't care! they say it does not affect your earning but it does something to you ego. I had a 9 and noe I have 8. everyday I liook at my start to see did it go up.

You are a 10 to me my friend, unsure why you are not a 10, I join alot of your discussions and you always give well thought out responses and then sometimes I see someone that has a 10 and can't believe that they have that from the responses I read, I try not to be affected by the rating system but how can you not be?

I think that you are the first member that post a discussion on this rating system that he doesn't care about it. Every time I see a discussion about this rating system and read members that cry why their rating is low, and why people rate them with a (-), I always ask them why it's so important to them? The rating system does NOT increase our earnings, so it doesn't matter if your rating is high or low. Your earning will still be the same.
Finally someone that post a discussion about it. Good one :)

Thanks for noticing, it is a topic I was curious about, especially after seeing everyone moan about their ratings going down. Take care

I can't say the star rating holds my happiness but there is a small part of me that gets tickled when it was rising. I have heard of members who's stars went from 10 down to 4 or 5 over night but my guess is they got someone mad and they just gave bad ratings. With this many members you can't expect everyone to like you so I don't set a whole lot of store in it - unless it was really really bad then I would have to look at what I was doing wrong.

Some people are devasted and have seen different ranges in the rating system, I can understand their pain but wish we did not have such a system to affect our desire to come here and discuss what is on our mind. Thank you for sharing~!

It isn't that It affects my happiness here. After all I am getting paid for doing this. I do look at it to see if my rating goes up or down. I don't see that it has had any effect on what I earn. I don't know anyone who looks at the rating of someone before they will respond to a discussion anyway. I have found that I don't get on as much or spend as much time on here as when I first started. Mylot use to upgrade my earnings daily but lately it takes 2 or 3 days before I actually see the credit. Can anyone explain that one? I have found it more interesting to just get on and respond to some of my friends and start a discussion when I think of something worth talking about. Does the rating actually help in increasing the earnings? After all if someone gives a good response this time doesn't mean they will the next time. I don't think this would be fair to anyone and surely myLot doesn't read every discussion and response.

I am the same way about coming on here, I used to spend hours here now not so often, seems I can find more things to do with my life than stay on myLot all day, besides if I was here for the money I would be broke by now, thanks for sharing my friend~!

i think one of the big problems with the star system is that it feels as though we are being graded. Im not sure at all about this. For me, i try not to let it bother me and certainly see some great discussions from people with low numbers but i also watch my star and im not sure how id react if it dropps again. I know last time i was devastated

Sorry to hear that, I know if mine dropped I would be upset also even though we should not let it affect us since all we are doing is responding to discussions, but it does. Thanks for sharing

I just read the alert from myLot saying that one person can't affect your star rating. So I don't know why people drop so much in one day. I love myLot but the star sytem does bug me alittle. I kinda have this problem where I always have to have the best mark. When in college I had to be in the 90's. It is not good to be like that because it stress you out. I think I am going to forget about the stars and start answer discussions to the best of my ability. Texas, you have saved me from the worring about the stars all the time. Thanks.

i am not affected by the rating system! ofcourse i like that i have a nine, but if i had an 8 or 7 so what?
i know i give good answers and try to help people. i see what i earn and i am not complaining.
right now there is a discussion from somebody who wants to get a ten instead of a nine!

Oh I personally dont care about such ratings. Even if this rating thing does not exist, i wont mind because i am here just to post replies to the discussions i feel connected to or where i can suggest something and also to make some money while doing that. That is it. I wont mind whatever my rating is or will be in the future!

I don't really mind the star rating. All forums are subjective to ones opinions. Some may agree with what you say and others may not. What's important is that I've managed to share my opinion, that's what mylot is about. I'm not even sure if having a high star rating will affect your earnings?

When I first got my rating it's just a 7... honestly, I was a bit sad... But that didn't change a thing on how I respond to discussions... I give honest comments and responses... All the statements that I made came from my heart... other people might not agree with me and can give me a negative feedback but it won't make a difference on how I see things. Giving people the advice that they needed according to my point of view is the key of making me happy regardless of what star color or number is on my name... :) good day!

Up until now I have felt unaffected, but I have learned just tonight to see the number percentages, and I am predicting a downfall for myself, and it makes me a little sad. I will still use the same posting and responding behaviours, I just wonder where I went wrong.

I actually donĀ“t give much attention to the rating. I know that I make quality posts weather my star is a 10 or a 1 =)
Ans I also have friends that are the coolest that have low numbers for no reason at all! I sure hope that they do something about it or remove it maybe even!

yes i agree with u, cos my rating too got affected for no significant reason. i think those who post unnecessary big posts make good ratings, but my point is who really is interested in wasting time reading all those lengthy posts? i m least interested, so i myself too post very short but to the point replies, which are easy to read at a glance and convey ur msg to the readers. so i too dont bother over my rating, i only enjoy the community.

Ya you are definitely right in this factor and i think the star rating is very much made us enthusiastic in mylot that too for me and i want to go higher and higher in mylot inorder to increase my rate of earning and the seniority level as such so it is very good and very much interested so we all do the discussions or respond to the discussion in order to earn some money.

i don't think the rating system had effected me, in fact, the first time i thought about it was when i answered a couple questions from two posters just now. i don't really understand it. i just put out my opinions, and this is a great outlet for a shut in like me.

No, you don't get paid more, it is a rating system on how other myLotters perceive your discussions or responses
