Is it right or wrong? Did you get your babies ears pierced? If not is there a certain age they have to be before you will get it done???
For us, it wasn't the right thing to do. Its cosmetic, it has no good benefit healthwise or other, to have their ears pierced as a baby. When my girls want to have earrings and ask us to let them have their ears pierced then that is when it will happen. It is something that should be their own personal decision if they want to wear them or not, not ours as their parents.

I personally thniks that it is not necessary to do so or to make your child feel pain just for your likeness. Its better if you leave it up to her that when she grow up she can do it if she likes otyherwise it isn;t necessary

Personally, we didn't allow our girls to have their ears pierced until they were 12. I think it looks adorable to see a little girl with pierced ears, but it's also a lot of work and worry that they will get infected. I just never wanted to worry about it... so we made the rule that when they were 12, they were old enough to take care of them on their own.

I would wait until the child was old enough to make the decision for themselves. It should be something they want to have done.

why is an earlobe socially accepted but piercing any other part of an infants or small child's body is not viewed as ok?

I totally agree with it being a personal opinion of wanting to wear earings (my mother alwys said that about my daughter as well) I did go ahead and get her ears pierced when she was small and she still to this day has her earings. That is why I have always given her the choice and she is more than welcome to take them out (and leave them out) at any time tho. I honestly dont know why we as parents do it. Is it because it is cute? Do we want everyone to know that they are female when they are small? Who knows. :S

It is right to pirce a baby's ear if th child is a girl but not boy because girls would still have the option of using an earing later in her life and pircing it during childhood is less painful than when an adult i guess

I was in Walmart a while back and watched as a couple had their baby girl's ear pierced. The poor little girl screamed so much. I really felt sorry for her. Also, the instrument used to pierce the little girl's ear was not sterilized after use. Could it not be possible for this instrument to pass HIV from the little girl to other children? I realize that the chances of this are small, but very real. We have people with HIV in this area and some of them are passing the terrible disease along to their children one way or another. Piercing the ears of an infected child would be a great way to pass along HIV to other children.

The sooner the better.
I believe that if we wait it can cause more pain. And to be honest I don't think that girls this days don't have the ears pierced. They probably have or wants to have more then one pierce.

hello lyricksmama
i use to think that piercing ones ear is not neccessary.now i know that alot of people do this for beauty purposes.well it all depends on you on what age to pierce your child ear. i think now is the right time to do it so that the child will not feel the pain when she is grown up

Your the mom it depends on you.Well for my own opinion it is better to have them pierced when they were still babies so that they wont feel the pain.In most hospitals here in my country as soon as you deliver your baby esp.if it's a girl they will ask you if you want her pierced, not for business though, they have some baby earings ready and you choose or if you want you bring your own.Anyway now it is the trend i have not seen anyone now w/out pierced even boy they like it.

I have to say, I find it quite sick that someone uses their child as a toy or doll and wants to decorate it in metal, I have my ear pierced but piercing a baby is pretty twisted, the baby has no say and you have to remember that you're marking the childs body.
imho any parent that does this shouldnt have children.

I wasn't allowed to get me done till i was 14, as my parents felt it should be my choice, not their, as at the end of the day, its my body.
I feel the same way about it. I won't have my little girls done untill she was old enough to look after them and understand what was being done.

Its not at all right to do this. Its blind belief that the ears sholuld be pierced. It should be left to the baby to decide on it after its matured.
