I tryed for a long time to give her the right foods and limit her intake of junk and also keep portions down.
Exercise has never been one of her favorite things and she has just started to like sports.
At this point she will get her self down by 20lbs. and decide that that is good enough. Right now she is at that point again. I would like to push her some how without pressuring her too much. She needs to loose about another 20 lbs. to be at an appropriate weight. (doctor recommended weight) any suggestions from a parent who's been there?

if you want her to get up and do excercises with out her realizing it i have a great idea that has worked for a lot of my friends. have you ever heard of the arcade game dance dance revolution (DDR). you can now buy it for home on playstation and x box. and you buy a mat for it. there are also online some versions that are just the mat that plugs into the tv so you don't need a console and comes with songs built in. anyway if she likes dancing it's so much fun and such a great excercise. i know someone who lost over 100 pounds just dancing. you can also get a second mat and have competitions with her or just dance with her. i have one just for the fun of it. good luck

my son is over weight. and for the longest i have said oh don't eat that, or you need to work out. this that and the other thing. but now i am teaching him to love his body as it is. to focus on how wonderful his body is because everything works and he is health. teach her how to think differently and you will see the weight come off. if she is thinking she is fat then she will be fat. but if she thinks she her bodys is beautiful then her body will start to be beautiful to her

See yes i think noramally this is the way to deal. HOWEVER. the problem here is i think i did too good a job making she that when she hit this age that she felt good about her body.
When she was little i would tell her that barbies are too small to fit thier organs inside a body like that no real person could be that shape healthily. Marilyn Monroe is one of the world's most beautiful women and she was very curvy skinny girls can never hope to be that shape but you have that body. And on and on now she has no desire to push herself when she is so close. I almost feel i may have done her a disservice.

Well let me tell you something... my Freshmen year of high school I went to the Dr for my check up that you need to get for HS. I weighed in at 196. Now only being 5foot 4inches at taht point in my life I was really big. I think I was in a size 16 or so. I currently weigh 125 and have been like that since my Junior year. I joined sports (tennis) and played all the time. I also started to become more active as I learned what it was like to start building a life of my own. Things will work for her soon... maybe working out with her or going on walks or even go get a few tennis rackets and learn how to play. It does not feel like you are working out when you are learning... It would be fun. Good luck!
