Sherlock Holmes was the fictional character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I think all the works are copyright free, so anyone can download them for free from loads of websites. Especially project Gutnberg.

Holmes is atleast real to me. I believe that people like Sherlock Holmes can exist.
The author of Holmes A.C Doyle was more or less like Holmes.
In fact he has caught one or twa thieves with the help of his scientific deductions.

He is a real person! And living today. Retired and raising bees. At Sussex Downs, as I recall, somewhere near the Sourthern coast. Ask any Baker Street Irregular. He can fill you in on the straight scoop. Were you ever to London? To the Sherlock Holmes Pub. I have a deerstalker from my visit there in 1980.

He was in fact a fictional character. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created the Sherlock Holmes character after a professor that taught him. He wrote in an article that this professor has the ability to understand lots of things from the obvious things. He wrote that this real character inspired him to make Sherlock Holmes.
