On my way to work this morning, I was listening to the radio and heard that a new way of robbing convenience stores is increasing. What the criminals do is they go get hot coffee and bring it up to the counter and they throw it in the face of the clerk and they run off with the money in the register. This totally surprised me since so many people buy coffee there and you would think someone would have stopped them, depending the time the crime was committed. So now, they have to keep an eye out for anyone who buys coffee. Is that crazy? Guess they may have to start serving cold or warm coffee instead.

wow! i never heard of this criminal strategy. but its working huh. criminals never run out of clever plans.heheheh. it is clever plan indeed. you through hot coffee on someone, that hurts or should i say that burns! LOL.
i think the best thing for stores is to not allow people to bring coffee or any hot drinks or foods inside the convenient stores. i could not think of any better way to avoid this kind of incident.

gosh. that's awful. how can people do that? hurting people? they already robbed the register and still need to hurt them... on the face with hot coffee? that's too painful. i feel sad for the cashier. i hope there were security guards on the look to atleast catch the robber.

That is just terrible..I think there will come a day when supermarkets and stores will have to have their casiers in booths that are bullet proof..Sad to think that you might someday talk to you local foodstore cashier from behind a glass shield?
I think that is horrible though .what you heard on the radio..you are off to work early!+

I think it is terrible too and would not want to work in a s tore like this or would be very careful when someone approaches with hot coffee or hot chocolate or anything hot. They are adding more security to the stores as we speak to prevent this from happening.

If something like this is really happening, then the convience stores are going to have to do the things that banks do. Eventually, the cashiers will start being protected by plastic windows so that something like this can't happen. shame....what is this world coming to any more when people don't even care that they are hurting or burning people just for a little money.

That' s a funny story. I never thought that coffee could be used as an arm. The imagination of robbers is so fertile. If they could use those skills in a better way.

It is amazing how smart these people can be to commit crimes like this and the way they do it but they can not use their intelligence to find a decent job and earn money the right and safe way. If they are smart enough to come up with ideas like this, why can they not be smart enough to get a job and earn money the right way? :-)

That's exactly how I feel. These smart thieves could be making lots of money in a respectable and legal profession instead of hurting and stealing from others.

People are doing some weird things. It is really starting to get bad. I wonder if it is because people just can't make it anymore or if it is because people are going crazy.

This is not good way to use coffee. I am sure it is just isolated incident. Coffee in convenience store is not good and is always to hot. Maybe should be served by barista.

OMG! Another way to fool, rob, and trick people. People really are so intelligent to think of ways just to get them do their dirty tricks.

that's just mean. but convienience store robbers generally are.
i heard a story about a pizza delivery guy who was robbed by a guy who stuck him up by pointing a alligator snapping turtle at him, threatening to have the animal bite if the guy didn't do what the robber said. it was a juvinile, about the size of a football, but still has a bite that can do plenty of damage.

It doesn't surprise me at all! It's pretty bad when a cashier has to be worried about being hit in the face with hot steaming coffee. It's disgusting!

There was a recent report saying there was a store useing coffee to catch a robber as well. They were offering a years worth of coffee for information leading to an arrest. Different twist.

I wouldn't call this a criminal strategy. Just some desperate person trying to get money for drogues.
When people are desperate they do desperate things...

Its disgusting that people have to stoop so low. next they will have to get the police to stand inside these convience stores and I'm sure that these convience stores don't make much to begin with. Now to go and have to pay extra for police protection---------NOT!

That is horrible. What state is that happening in? I didn't hear about such a thing where I live. Why is violence so bad? It seems to be getting worse and worse.

It has been happening in Pennsylvania and New Jersey mostly but Delaware could be a target as well. I found out it is a group of people that are constantly doing this but it could lead to copycats elsewhere. I agree that violence is getting worse all over.

Good Grief! That coffee is usually very hot indeed. I always put a "sleeve" on my cup. I can't imagine how a hot cup of coffee thrown directly into my face would feel. I have always thought that a convenience store was not a safe place to work . Seems I was right.

Well, This is quite natural for any criminal to search for new ways to get his work done, their main aim is to escape with some result and unidentified ,but crime catchers too should ve to manage new ways to stop the crimes , they ve different phases which they can go through
step 1. to stop crime
step 2. if there is crime , identifying the criminal.
step 3. if there is crime , to reduce the degree of crime at tht situation.
step 4. customize the situation, avoid things or situations which can prevent crime at tht situation and place
like the situation which u mentioned above we better maintain separate counters for coffee, tea etc
or the cash counters should be behind a glass case which is bit safe .

Criminals will take any means possible to get their money. I have read a few news stories relating to this. What I don't understand is why they go through all the trouble of planning out how to rob a store, carry through with the plan, and make a getaway for what sometimes is a measley few dollars. They would be better off going down to the local labor company and do some day labor which would probably earn them more money then hitting up convience stores. People get desperate when they need another hit, it gets sad reading how desperate some people have become.
