Our health is very precious. Without it, it is very difficult to maintain a quality life. I'm not a health expert but using some common knowledge and some common sense here are my 5 suggestions on how to improve one's health and live better and longer.
First, eat well. Avoid stuffing your body with junk. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Do not fall for every radical diet schemes and remember moderation is the key.
Second, get some exercise. We are not meant to be sedentary creatures. We are designed to move, to walk, to run. Set up an exercise routine, join a gym, practise a sport or do fun outdoor activities with friends.
Third, get enough sleep. Sleepless nights are not good for you. Nothing resuscitates the body more than a good restful sleep. Make sure you logged in your required number of snoozes if you want to stay healthy.
Fourth, manage stress. Stress is a health-killer. Unfortunately, its a common side effect of day-to-day living. Learn to handles stress by finding ways to relax yourself after a stressful day. Take a walk, soak in the tub, pick a hobby, go dancing, listen to music, whatever works for you. Just make sure you give your body and your spirits a chance to refresh itself by minimizing stress effects.
Fifth, enjoy life. Laugh a lot. Find humor in even the most ridiculous situation. Maintaining a light-hearted, playful disposition will help you lengthen your life span. Living is supposed to be joyful. Have fun.
I know that if you apply these suggestions in your life, you will be on your way to lead a healthy, happy life. Life is good as long as we recognize our role to make it so. Have a great life!

Step 1: Identify Past Successes. Spend some time identifying four or five examples where you have had personal success in recent years. These successes could be at work, in your community, at home, etc. Write them down.
Try to identify whether there is a common theme -- or themes -- to these examples. Write them down.
Step 2: Identify Core Values. Develop a list of attributes that you believe identify who you are and what your priorities are. The list can be as long as you need.
Once your list is complete, see if you can narrow your values to five or six most important values.
Finally, see if you can choose the one value that is most important to you.
Step 3: Identify Contributions. Make a list of the ways you could make a difference. In an ideal situation, how could you contribute best to:'
the world in general
your family
your employer or future employers
your friends
your community
Step 4: Identify Goals. Spend some time thinking about your priorities in life and the goals you have for yourself.
Make a list of your personal goals, perhaps in the short-term (up to three years) and the long-term (beyond three years).
Step 5: Write Mission Statement. Based on the first four steps and a better understanding of yourself, begin writing your personal mission statement.

i think doing the things which you will be happy,maintaining balance(i mean your anger),being positive,good food and good circle of people around you can increase your spn of life....overall less tensions

You know Gharinder, though living longer has never been quite my concern but yet I do have some Idea as to how to make it last long.
The most important thing I think to live longer is Love. I mean not running behind love but loving others for free. I mean without expecting anything back. It really gives you a lot of peace and also a good amount of positivity. Doing what God told us slowely you start believing in all the good things.
Next is to take care of your self. A good health follows a healthy mind and spome cases vice versa. So always eat good and live happy.
Take care to work every day or atleast exercise everyday. A day gone lazy always make your life look longer and end short.
Keep yourself cleen, take good bath everyday. Maintain cleanliness around so as to save yourself from germs.
Conserv energy so that you may not fall short of that and get into future tensions.
Take Care
And Be Happy(Thats the most Important)

I just saw this discussion...and becouse everybody gave you such long answers..I'll make mine shorter..
You need to care about your health...fight stress with the best weapon you have:laughter,joy...you have to be positive in almost everything you do...take some long walks (somewhere where there is fresh air,so you have exercises here,too)...respect your sleep time(don't do like me lol)...and DON'T SMOKE!(I am a smiker,but I am telling everybody not to smoke)

Eat fresh food,drink sterilized water,go quickly for medication after getting sick,change food habits according to your age,clean your body everyday,eat food that contains every nutritions that are needed for body and go for regular body checkup of your body.

I would like to live longer with good health and die normally without giving any inconvenience to others. For me it is health is very important rather years I live. The main reason is dependency on other.
For me the secret for a longer life is as under:
1. Good food in moderation.
2. Sharing Love and affection with my love ones.
3. Having strong spiritual belief.
4. Music
5. Sound Sleep.
