I have a bunch of recieving blankets from when my son was tiny and can no longer use them . I have about 20 of them. I was wondering if anyone has any kind of craft or project I could use them for. any ideas, or soemthing that you know was done with them.

I made pillows out of mine. some patchwork with a square from each one and some with one on front and one on the back. The kids loved them to lay on in front of the t.v. or in their rooms. They still had a little of their babyhood, and my daughter now uses hers with her kids. You can also make teddy bears out of them. I have done this too. They turn out so cute. Soft and cuddly my grandkids all have one I have made for them. Easy to make.

I made a quilt top with my lil one's receiving blankets. :) I doubled the blankets so that they were two layers of material instead one for added warmth. When I tried to put the blankets together it looked far too busy so I used blue fleece material for every other square. It came out really cute! I have some squares left over and am planning on making matching pillow shams one of these days! :)

That is awesome, my kids are just outgrowing a bunch of baby stuff, including some of their blankets, and I think a quilt top with doubled layers is a wonderful idea. I've never made a quilt but that is one of my goals this year. Have you ever done one with old clothing also? I've got quite a few outfits that are stained but I could certainly cut out pieces for a quilt, which I think would be cool.

This site might give you ideas to make and put in your flea market booth! I hope that it is a good site and you find something that can help you. Good luck!!

I have tons of the recieving blankets too so I was interested to see what ideas people have. I'm not good at making quilts or pillows or anything like that. My mother in law can do stuff like that though so maybe I'll send some to her and let her make some stuff with ours.

I would suggest maybe making a quilt for him. It would be full of love and tons of memories. The other idea I had was also already suggested but maybe donate them to a local homeless shelter or hospital or someplace where underprivileged children can have a blanket. Good luck!

You can make a quilt out of them, make little animals by using the material or make them into burping rags and personalize it with embrodried names and so forth and give them as gifts. I know that for some of my plain ones I put a plastic bag in the middle then tied it with a piece of yarn and made ghosts for Holloween. I put black eye and a mouth to give it mor umph. You can also put them in the bottom of a basket and fill the basket with goodies and and give it as a gift.

you could make curtains out of them for your grandchilds room as well as table runners, quilt, pillows, etc. or you can make a stuff animal out of them. there is alot of possibilities for them. if not for your grandchild, make something to pass down or for your childs memory. i use to use them for cloth diapers when i ran out. let your imagination go wild and you will find something to do with them that is creative.

I think that making a quilt or blanket for your future grandchildren. You could use pieces the receiving blankets and make a large keepsake patchwork quilt or blanket.

I'm not very good at craft ideas, but it might be worth you asking the local charity shop whether they have any use for them and what you could do with them.
