Without your kidney transplant, someone close to you will die within one month. The odds that you will survive the operation are only 50 percent, but should you survive you would be creatain of a normal life expectancy. Would you consent to the operation?

Thinking about it, the answer can be an easy no. But when the real situation happens, it takes a different side and becomes a yes. That's how it always happens. When a love one is very sick, we always say that we will do everything we can to help ease his pain and be well again. It will therefore be a yes, even if it is uncertain how long he will live after that operation. It will definitely be worth the try considering that each day more, spent with a loved one, are days to be treasured in the days to come.

Yes, I suppose I will consent to the operation if I want to live longer, despite of the rate of survival. Who wouldn't want to prolong his life? I have witnessed people in the hospital searching for a donor for kidney transplant to no avail (and without the necessary money, how can they get a donor, unless they come across people who are so compassionate that they wouldn't mind to let go of one of their kidneys)
