Have you ever went out somewhere to eat only to end up leaving? Was the service bad or did something disturbing (like the cleanliness of the restaurant turn you off)? What about after you've eaten/ taken a few bites...have you walked out at that point? When do you think it's justifiable to walk out of a restaurant?

The last time my family and I walked out of a restaurant was almost a year ago. We went to California Pizza Kitchen for my brother's birthday. Since we had a large party and it was a Saturday night, we called before we left to see how busy it was and it actually wasn't too busy at all, so we went ahead and went. Of course, by the time we got there, they were packed, so we had to wait. Ok, no big deal. That's expected. Well, apparently, some genius decided to make us wait on one specific table. Trouble is, that party wasn't leaving any time soon. They were just sitting around and chatting. We complained to the manager and he said something along the lines of there's nothing he can do because he can't ask them to leave... blah blah blah. Right, you can't ask them to leave, but can't you arrange some other tables??? There was a group of empty tables at one point, so I don't understand why they couldn't rearrange those. Anyway, after waiting for about 2 hours and yelling at the manager and one of the ladies in that party we were waiting for (oh, that's a whole other story), we finally left. As we were leaving, they were finally rearranging other tables. Too little, too late! Apparently, at this particular CPK, it's more important to keep the already happy customers happy than it is to make another large party that will bring in a large sum of money happy. Of course, that particular CPK will now be boycotted by my family. LOL

I just said no thank Ill go somewhere else where my service is important when there is only 3 people sitting here and your not busy.. I never went back and Ill never recommend people to some place that could treat me like that.It took me to leave for them to say oh gosh sorry after one Hour!! Poor service..

I have walked out of a few resturants. One resturant i walked out of was because the waiter sucked so bad. He was slow doing everything seating us, taken our order, giving us our drinks, on top of that he was very rude. Other times it was because the line was to long, or we just got tried of waiting.

My mother and me walked out of a restaurant once because we noticed other people being served that arrived after us, even parties of people larger than ours (it was only us 2) when we asked the waitress why other people were being served before us, she got this dumb look on her face and said that she forgot toput our order in! We were so mad and starving by that point, so we left and got fast food, not what we wanted.

Many a times. I have been to restaurants and i find nothing to eat there and hence end up leaving the place. There were many occassions of these sort.
Part of the mistake was from my side because i go to the restuarant in the wee hours and in my region people close their businees pretty early. So i don't get to eat the dish of my choice so it makes me leave the place. Come one i will never pay for the dish that i was compelled to eat.

I have walked out of many restaurants for many reasons:
The wait time is too long-- Its hard to wait when you have children who are hungry.
I was seated but not waited on for over 30 minutes.. this doesn't work for me- Not even offered drinks or anything!
Went into a restaurant for the first time for luch with some other ladies-- We could not believe the prices for lunch! We looked at the menu-- laughed and got up and walked out.
I have never walked out without paying. Even if the food is bad- I will still pay.

We went to a restaurant once that was not very busy. The waitress came and took our drink order and said she would be back for our food order. Twenty minutes later she still had not brought our drinks nor had she takedn our food order. She was standing up front talking to the other waitresses. We walked out and never did go back.
I dont think it is appropiate to just walk out once you have received your food without telling the manager that you are leaving and not paying for your food and give them a reasonable explanation.

I have walked out of restaurants on several occasions because they haven't been able to provide a meal suitable for my dietary requirements. I can't see any problem with that, as I can't eat unsuitable food.

I went into a cafe and they were horribly overpriced. The size of the meal was miniscule for the amount they were asking. They didnt have anything that my child would eat. It was a terrible idea to go in there, and we walked out. It was the one and only time we have done that.

There has been a few times I've been terribly thirsty, and had no money. The only logical choice for me, was to sit down in a restaurant, order a (free) water, and leave before the waiter returns to take my order. Other than that, I don't believe I've ever left a restaurant.

We went to our local Applebee's at a different time than we usually go and were met with unfamilar staff. This one girl who waited on us, got our drinks wrong, then our appetizers, and then argued with me that it WAS what we ordered! After she huffed away with the plate, I waved to the assistant manager and asked him to get our bill for the half-drunken drinks and explained why we weren't going to have our entrees come out wrong and be blasted for them, too. We paid her and the girl came out with another appetizer - still wrong. My husband and I shook our heads and started to the door. The AS ran to the manager and he followed us outside. My husband explained the situation and he offered us back inside and another waitperson. By then we were at our van and I politely told him it wasnt necessary. The man literally begged us to return - his behavior was really strange. Then he gave us his card and said anytime we returned would be on the house, and he'd send us a letter to that, too. I gave him my business card and we drove off. Both of us were laughing and wondered why he carried on like that.
A week late I received the free meals letter and another apology from him. I began laughing and showed it to my husband. He suddenly realized he had news for me. Seems another waitress there knew my husband when he worked fast food, saw him later and told him that the store was called in advance of some mystery shoppers coming in from the company. He thought we were them! We both howled over that and decided we would use the certificate during the times we normally came in. We enjoyed it!

Oh yes I have been to a restaurant and walked out. It was when I ordered my food and it had a fly in it and I told them and they did not like what I said and so I walked out and did not pay as I could of bought in the health department. There are many reasons why people walk out of any restaurant

I have walked out of two restaurants. Both times the restaurants were not busy and I did not have food. It took the server too long to get to our table. Now I am not saying that we were there for like 5 min and did not have anyone...it was 15 to 20. No one came to us, not even the other servers or managers that were busy chatting and/or not paying attention to us. Now there are other instances where we did not leave a good tip because of bad service, but we have never left without paying the bill. You go to the restaurant so that you do not have to cook and you want to be pampered, not spoken rude to and not ignored..fine if they do not want my money then I do not want their food.

No one can deny that the kitchens of five star hotels may also very bad in condition. Some small restaurents are good also. So first you should try to know the standard of the hotel. Then you can enjoy the food.

I think that it is justifiable, as long as you don't eat. If you eat, and something happens, you owe the restuarant for your meal. If it is horroble, then complain, but to me walking out would be stealing.

I went with my parents and my sisters to a restaurant. We all sat down and looked at the menu....while we were doing that we all had a drink...after looking at the menu we all looked at each other and see the prices, which shocked us so much. So my dad and his quick thinking said to my mum that we have make an excuse to leave, as he wasnt prepared to pay there prices/ So he told the waiter one of my older sister (that wasnt there) has just been taken ill in hospital and that we are very soory but hes got to get there to make sure shes alright.....we never did go back !!
