Avant is a good add-in for Internet Explorer. However, the best browser if you want both security and speed is Opera.
Check out http://freewebsoftwarereviews.blogspot.com
Here I have compared the features of the three major browsers as well as the security, see the figures for yourself.
Basically, I recommend using Opera for browsing and internet transactions (it is the only browser having 256bit encryption). If you have persistent problems with opening a website, then you may use IE or Firefox(preferred), but only for that site.
Avant is fast, but does not open all pages well. Also, being based on the Trident engine(the same as IE) it shares many of the security problems of IE. Also, it simply does not have the same amount of features of Firefox or Opera that make browsing a more pleasurable experience.

I got IE and Mozilla in my puter, but i only use Mozilla...I don't think it's slow at all...it's true it takes a second or two more to load at the begining, but once it's there it's way faster than IE to surf with. The new version is very nice. Anyway this is a matter of tastes. One thing is for sure, IE is the worst of them all and it's full of spy stuff for copies and such..in the end it's the worst.
