Do you have home maicures or do pay to have them done?

Just wondering how many of us would rather just pay to have a manicure and how many of us would rather save the money and put some effort into have a home manicure?
For me, i find it more convienient to have a home manicure as then i can pamper myself whenever i want, liie late at night. Also, i'm on a bit of a budget and find it far cheaper to have a DIY manicure. I also like to be able to choose exactly what i have done, like sometimes i want to have my cuticles done, have a hand soak & scrub, but maybe i don't always want me nails painted.
So whcih do you prefer and why?

i used to do my own mainicures but thatwa before i got my nails done, so i go see a nice lady about twice a mth whi does my nails for me

I usually do my manicures at home. I remove any old polish, soak my hands, clean my nails and cut them. Then I use a scrub, paint them and moisturise.
On specially occassions I get a gel manicure and I must admit it looks great and saves me a lot of time on maintenance- I just can't afford to get it done that often.

I must admit i go to the nail salon once a month as i have gel nails, it is such a hassle to go, just wish i could do my own at home where i'd rather be doing my nails to my own delight in front of the TV, i have tried doing the arcrilic ones at home but did'nt get on to well with the solution, gel nails last longer but so expensive to buy all the kit like the UV lamp etc, so stuck with saving my pennies for the salon
