I was tring to decide between Mac and PC before I bought my Mac mini from Apple. After I bought my Mac Mini i installed a program called bootcamp( you can download this from the apple site), which allows you to run Windows XP, in my case I run Vista on my Mac. Bootcamp is totally free and works great. I recommend every to do the same because it gives you the freedom to choose between Mac or Windows everytime you start your computer!!

Yeah, I heard of that, but do I really want windows on a mac? DO I need it? Generally speaking, no :) I am running a PC, but my daughter has a mac and she doesn't miss windows one bit. She can run word on her mac and most things she needs. I don't advocate for either one, I think they both have their good points. THe only thing that upset me a bit was when my daughter went to portugal and we decided msn was a great way to stay in touch, we learned that although mac can use msn, it's not the newest version and does not allow video. But then we worked that out finding a cross platform messenger. ( one that would work in both mac and pc ).

yea girls tend to like mac more because of appearance but vista is amazing in appearance (personally better than mac) and if you have the XP just install it using only like 5gb just for emergencies or for a program or game that is only windows compatible (which most programs are)

Yes vista does look great! I think that if you want something specific like as you said a program or game that runs only on windows, then it's a good option for sure.

I have been a pc lover because I love ebooks and have a ton of ebooks and I heard that you couldn't read certain ebooks on a Mac. Are you know saying that as long as you have windows xp or vista installed on your Mac, you will be able to do evertyhing that you could on a PC. If that is the case then I just might look into switching to the MAC. I have heard great things about MAC's, but that ebooks thing is what kept me on a pc. Now I guess I may have to do some research.

YES if you get a mac and download the free program called bootcamp from (http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/)you can run XP or Vista just like a PC so your computer can do both mac and windows stuff its great if u want more detail just ask! i have it on my mac mini. Do you know whats even crazier, if you BUY a program called Parallel you can run Windows and Mac at the same time in 2 different windows ( so u can minimize the windows screen and have mac running behind it!!) go to http://www.parallels.com/ to check out this. I recommend Bootcamp still because its free and i never installed parallel before!

Macs still use proprietary hardware making them less upgradable than a PC. They also use mice with only one button when windows requires two. Macs run on Intel chipsets which ususally use crappy Intel graphics which are useless for gaming. Since I'm a gamer and need a computer that uses a good video card and is very upgradable, Macs are inadequate for my purposes, regardless of bootcamp. Macs are also overpriced. My laptop cost me $599. A macbook with comparable specs would have cost around $1500.
